1.20 Goodwood: Ancient Rome

Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 12-1.
Ancient Rome needs to be forgiven a poor run in the John Smith's Cup at York last time out, but if a line is put through that effort, he can certainly be considered here.
The Charlie Hill-trained six-year-old won this race in 2023 on his first start for the yard after moving over from France, and followed up that win in a Group Three contest plus has largely been campaigned at a high level without further success since, but has run well on occasions.
His two efforts in handicaps prior to his latest blip suggested he was definitely able to win off this sort of mark, and he is 5lb below the rating he scored off two years ago.
He could definitely get this race run to suit, with Jamie Spencer perhaps the ideal jockey to deliver him off a fast pace.

1.55 Goodwood: Do Or Do Not

Tipster: Sam Turner.
Best odds: 17-2.
In a special edition of True To Form, a regular preview show hosted by Sam Turner on Racing TV's YouTube page, our top pundit shares his selections for the Qatar Goodwood Festival this week.
Sam has a couple of fancies chalked up at a general 8-1 in the Coral Vintage Stakes (1.55pm) and the HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes (2.30pm) on Tuesday plus also likes the look of a 40-1 chance in Wednesday's British Stallion Studs EBF Alice Keppel Fillies' Conditions Stakes (4.20pm).
The show is free to view on our YouTube page (below) and Sam has previewed each of the five days. You can enjoy all the action live on Racing TV, and please remember to gamble responsibly.
Spoiler alert - Sam's fancy in Tuesday's Coral Vintage Stakes is Do Or Do Not, the Coventry Stakes runner-up who also caught the eye at Newmarket last time out. Sam believes the step up in trip will be ideal for Ed Walker's charge who has shown bundles of promise in four starts, despite not recording a victory.

2.30 Goodwood: Lake Forest

Tipster: Alex Scott.
Best odds: 11-1.
Lake Forest's latest performance was disappointing, but I am convinced that was due to the quick turnaround after Ascot. If he had not ran at York he could well be favourite for this and I am convinced he is a real talent.
His Golden Eagle win over Lazzat is top form and for all this is a competitive renewal of the Lennox, double-figure odds underestimates his chances to my mind.
The ground is likely to be good, which will play to his strengths, and I have doubts over Jonquil, who I see as more of a miler and is short enough having only managed 13th in the Commonwealth Cup, whilst Audience is not getting any younger and Kinross would surely want softer conditions.
William Haggas is in flying form too and I fancy this son of No Nay Never to display his smart turn of foot on the Downs after being given a four-week break since his last run.

3.05 Goodwood: Scandanavia

Tipster: Andy Stephens.
Best odds: 3-1.
Andy Stephens Uses The Raceiq Data To Try and Crack The Goodwood Cup
Aidan O’Brien looks to hold all the aces here via Illinois and Scandinavia, who dominate the market.
The former does not know how to run a bad race and again gave his all in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last time, when chasing home the relentless Trawlerman. He simply could not keep up in the closing stages that day and it looked a case of him being outstayed, although his Finishing Speed Percentage of 100.79% suggests he was not exactly treading water in the closing stages.
For a horse with plenty of smart form over shorter distances, it was perhaps surprising that he did not dip under 12 seconds for any of the 20 furlongs and that his Top Speed of 37.9mph was slowest of the first four home. That said, he would not be winning a Group One contest out of turn and Ryan Moore is staying faithful to him.
However, at the prices, it’s his younger stablemate, SCANDANAVIA, who makes more appeal.
Three-year-olds are a rarity in this race (he will be the first to represent them in five years) and he seeks to become the first of his generation to win it since the mighty Stradivarius upstaged the hat-trick seeking Big Orange in 2017. “The Strad” was getting 13lb weight-for-age that day because that renewal was staged on August 1, whereas Scandinavia will get 14lb from his older rivals because this edition falls in July.
