Dave Nevison, Martin Dixon, Katie Midwinter, Danny Archer and Harry Allwood share a contender each to follow across York and the Curragh on Saturday, all live on Racing TV.
1.55 York: Archivist
Tipster: Martin Dixon.
Best odds: Evens.
(Martin's selections are first provided to subscribers on Friday afternoon - any odds mentioned were correct at that time).
No prizes for originality siding with a very well-bred, William Haggas-trained three-year-old here, but I think Archivist is so well handicapped that I must be with him, even at relatively short odds. A son of Dubawi, it took time for him to open his account, but he did in great style at Leicester last time, clearing right away inside the final furlong. That was only his second start for Haggas, so I'd anticipate plenty of ongoing improvement.
Most of his rivals in this are older, exposed handicappers with not much in hand of their marks, and from a good draw in stall two, I'm hoping this will be a straightforward win for Archivist en route to much bigger and better things.
2.20 Curragh: Flushing Meadows
Tipster: Danny Archer.
Best odds: 8-15.
It might be Wimbledon next week, but it’s a US Open connection to this runner who impressed on debut over course and distance on debut.
The son of Wootton Bassett took a while to hit full stride, but stayed on powerfully in the closing stages to record a decisive success. He can become Aidan O’Brien’s first winner of the race since Little Big Bear back in 2022.
3.00 York: Habooba
Tipster: Harry Allwood.
Best odds: 9-2 (Advised at 6-1 ante-post).
This mare produced a shock when scoring at 28-1 over course and distance in May, although it did not come as a surprise to connections who aimed her at the race.
That was her first outing over five furlongs for almost a year, and while she did win three times over a furlong further after that run, she appeared to relish the step back down to the minimum trip last time out.
Her victory is also worth upgrading given she raced alone when kicking for home, and was well on top at the finish, which suggests she should be capable of defying a 6lb rise. She also remains unexposed over this trip, and clearly relishes this track.
JM Jungle, who is also entered here, boosted that form when landing the Aston Martin "Dash" Handicap at Epsom next time out, and the runner-up has also won a decent race since.
A repeat of her latest effort will see her involved in the finish again.
3.30 Curragh: Kalpana
Tipster: Katie Midwinter.
Best odds: 6-5.
Kalpana is clear on ratings but does have to give 12lb to the younger improver in Whirl, who proved her credentials in Classic company when last seen.
The British-raider brings top class form against some of the best middle-distance colts into the race, however, and could have the edge.
French runner Survie is a big price in comparison with some of her rivals, and the value may lie with her, but Kalpana is the most appealing for win purposes and could have too much talent for the rest of the field now back against the fillies.
5.25 York: Glistening Nights
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 20-1.
A poor run last time in the Queen Mother's Cup at this track definitely needs to be forgiven (he was too keen early and faded out of things) but, despite some uninspiring form figures, Glistening Nights has looked to be running into form plus is now running off a mark a couple of pounds lower than his latest win.
He could be worth risking in a race that has a pretty much guaranteed pace on, which will enable him to settle better under crack amateur rider Eireann Cagney.
The Richard Fahey-trained gelding was in great form last summer winning four times, and looks set to go off a big price after his recent disappointment. Glistening Nights has also run well enough at York previously for me to think last time was a one off.
