Betting expert Dave Nevison hit the target with Carrytheone (14-1) at Ascot on Saturday and switches his attention to the Jumps' meeting at Exeter for his first column of this week.
3.18 Exeter: Move With The Beat
Emma Lavelle had a couple of winners over the weekend, so her yard is clearly in good form and this five-year-old looks a very interesting chasing debutant in this low-grade handicap.
Move With The Beat showed a modicum of promise in four starts in novices hurdles last season, especially on his final start when finishing fourth at this track.
His dam is related to useful chasers and Move With The Beat has already won two point to point contests, so he may well do better over fences. The booking of Harry Cobden is also eye-catching.
4.28 Exeter: Rose Of Arcadia
Rose Of Arcadia won on her racecourse debut and has also made a winning reappearance for the past two seasons, so this may well be the time to catch her.
A wind operation over the summer may have helped her breathing, too, so she could even show improvement this season.
She certainly ran as though there may be an issue on her final start last season, where she cut out quickly after travelling well for most of the race.
Freddie Gingell has already won on her three times and is still able to claim 3lb on her here. Joe Tizzard had a winner at Kempton on Sunday and his horses have been running well.
5.03 Exeter: Sassified
Thomosina Eyston is one of the most experienced amateurs taking part in this contest and I’m hoping she can click on Sassified here in the silks of JP McManus.
Sassified has come down the handicap a little after modest efforts this season but showed a little more spark last time out plus has blinkers for the first time, replacing usual cheekpieces.
He won three times last season, always on ground no worse than good to soft, so conditions should be right for him here. His latest win came in October of last season and he is off a 7lb lower on this occasion.
