Exeter Racecourse, Results & Racecards

Exeter Racecourse

Surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside, Exeter racecourse stages 17 racedays of quality jumps action, with the feature meeting being the Bwin Haldon Gold Cup, which takes place in November. The half-mile home straight is on the rise all the way to the finish and proves to be a track that reveals potential top quality jumps horses.
Exeter racecourse is a right-handed two-mile circuit laid out in a long oval, with 11 fences and a run-in of around 170 yards. The chase course is on the outside of the hurdles one, but the inside track is often used on the home turn regardless of whether the races are over fences or not.

Exeter Course Guide

Aidan Coleman

An oval-shaped, galloping type of track that’s about two miles round, Exeter has very fair fences and it’s no surprise that plenty of top trainers choose to introduce potentially top-class chasers here at the start of the season. It drains very well as it’s up on a hill, so ground can often be on the quicker side before the west country rain sets in for the season, but once it does, it can get fairly testing in the middle of the season. It’s a hilly track with a couple of climbs, and in the home straight over the last four you are always very slightly on the incline up to the line.
