12.45 Haydock: Flying Fortune
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 16-1.
This mare beat a very strong field when she won the Persian War at Cheltenham in autumn 2024 and, even though she has won plenty of races, she has always been underrated by the handicapper in my opinion.
She must have sustained an injury after that Chepstow race and has been absent until this spring, and has clearly been running herself back into form on three runs so far.
The Bowen mare has dropped 6lb in those runs and showed clear signs of coming back to form last time with a good run at Perth.
The step up to three miles looks set to suit
Flying Fortune very well and I am taking the application of cheekpieces for the first time as a positive step.
1.15 Haydock: Tellherthename
Tipster: Ross Millar.
Best odds: 3-1.
He badly lost his way when switched from Ben Pauling to Jonjo O'Neill, but as a consequence has slipped to a mark of just 133.
When viewed through his form in the 2024 Fighting Fifth, this suggests he's very well-handicapped.
Soft ground didn't suit when making his debut for this yard in the County Hurdle, but this better ground and flat track give him optimal conditions.

1.45 Ascot: Politely
Tipster: Alex Scott.
Best odds: 7-1.
This progressive three-year-old arrives at Ascot race fit and can pounce late under Saffie Osborne.
Martyn Meade's few runners have been showing signs of coming into form this week, with the Manton handler saddling a close second at Chester on Thursday at double-figure odds.
This track should suit her running style and it is a course Saffie Osborne rides extremely well. Politely was a work in progress last year, but has clearly strengthened up over the winter as she has won both of her starts since this season since stepped up to a mile.
She won readily on handicap debut last time and a 6lb rise may not be enough to stop her in this race against rivals with questions to answer.
2.20 Ascot: Tribal Chief
Tipster: RaceiQ (Andy Stephens).
Best odds: 13-2.
The RaceiQ nap of the day has pinpointed seven winners from the last 13 selections.
He was fastest in each of the final three furlongs when winning at Goodwood in August, and also finished best when third in the Lincoln last time.
He has the pace to cope with the drop to 7f, plus is favourably drawn and Billy Loughnane rides for the first time.
4.15 Haydock: City Captain
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 3-1.
The Harriet Bethell yard couldn’t be in much better form and City Captain certainly looks poised to add another win for the stable pretty soon.
The gelding won four times last season, progressing throughout, and after a quiet comeback run, he hit top form again last time out when second at Thirsk.
He is lucky to be running off the same mark this afternoon as running Murasah to two lengths will probably look like a very strong effort in time.
Kevin Stott seemed to get on very well with City Captain last time and the partnership look to have a real opportunity in this finale.
