2.35 Cartmel: Alvesta
Alvesta appeared to have her stamina stretched over two and three quarter miles at the track on her previous start, but she can prove more effective now dropped back in trip.
Before her latest defeat, the daughter of Study Of Man showed her liking for the unique Cumbrian track with victory in a course and distance seller.
Others might have achieved more than the five-year-old, however having course form at Cartmel counts for plenty, while she also has the bonus of being in the care of James Moffat, who is the leading trainer at the track.
4.21 Cartmel: Star Turn
Star Turn has had to settle for second-best on his last three starts, however he is taken to go one better here and open his account over fences.
The Mickey Bowen-trained gelding found only the re-opposing Kingofthegame too strong in a course and distance contest last time out.
On that occasion he was giving 5 lb away to the Martin Todhunter-trained runner, who is worse off at the weights this time, even before taking James Murray’s 7 lb claim into account.
Stamina is clearly an asset of Star Turn's, and with ground conditions set to suit, he should be capable of making his mark.

4.52 Newmarket: John Harrison
Taking on a horse from the yard of Sir Mark Prescott that is stepped up significantly in trip is a dangerous game, but John Harrison could be up to the task.
Last time out, the Alan King-trained gelding finished a staying-on third over a mile at Salisbury to suggest that a step up to 10 furlongs would be beneficial in the future.
While Moon Wrap, from the Prescott yard, could potentially be thrown in off a mark of 61, he has race fitness to prove, which tips the verdict in favour of John Harrison, who also looks to have further improvement in the locker.
7.00 Nottingham: Control Room
Grace Harris has her string in decent form at present and Control Room can keep that run up by getting her head in front for the first time this season.
The daughter of Land Force finished third on her stable debut in a five furlong contest at Windsor, where she only lost out on second late on.
Although her sole victory for her previous trainer Robert Cowell was achieved on soft ground, she has shown a liking for a fast surface judging by her last two runs.
The handicapper has eased her a further 2 lb down to a mark of 69, and if getting an uncontested lead, she could prove hard to peg back.
