Racing TV tipster Dave Nevison selected a 4-1 winner on Friday and has four fancies for Saturday's action on the channel, including fancies at Wetherby, Kempton and Warwick.
Much as I have always enjoyed my visits to Wetherby, I don't find it an easy track to bet at - especially when the going is testing as the home straight at 'the A1 course' can be punishing and you definitely want to be with a horse that at very least is proven over the trip or stays further.
Iroko seems to fit that description perfectly and impressed when very well backed last time. He is proven over the course and won his race by staying on well in the straight. He certainly looks set to improve over this trip and can be another winner for the Greenall/Guerriero combo that has been going well all season. The McManus colours won't help with the price but he looks a solid choice to kick off this Saturday’s yankee.
Can Iroko follow up this course-and-distance success?

The Lanzarote Hurdle looks the most competitive and wide-open renewal I have seen for a some time, befitting the name of one of my favourite horses - one that helped get me hooked on this game back in the 70’s.
A lightly-raced Charles Byrne improver who could be anything adds further complexity to the race and it is impossible to rule almost any runner out, but my angle in this kind of contest is often to look for a good claiming jockey and a glance through the last 10 winners shows six of them having been ridden by conditionals, which is quite compelling.
Regular readers will not be surprised therefore that I am more than happy to come down on outsider in Red Risk who is ridden by my favourite 7lb-claimer Freddie Gingell. Red Risk was a surprise winner last time but scored very comfortably at Newbury and hasn't been over-punished in the weights. One thing for sure is that Gingell will give it his all to get us at least the place money in an each-way bet.
Luca Morgan knows this horse well, but this is the first time he will have been on board since riding out his claim. However I certainly think the jockey is going to make it against the seniors, especially with the continued support of Ben Pauling.
Although now a 10-year-old and pretty exposed I do think this horse might still have upside over an extreme distance, which he tried for the first time last time out. I am not at all concerned that he hasn’t been seen since November as it seems that he is campaigned with a fair break between his races and has run most of his best races fresh.
This one has already landed a major target over fences when winning the Becher Chase at Aintree last time and it now looks like Dan Skelton has switched his aim to landing a big prize over hurdles. Given he is the best target trainer in England - in my opinion - I would rather be with Skelton than against him.
He might have been a little immature when tried in Graded company over hurdles as a novice but his last two runs in handicaps off this mark have been very encouraging. Ashtown Lad looks well handicapped off a lower hurdles mark than over fences and can take this on the way to Cheltenham with a rise in the weights no doubt being part of the plan to guarantee a run in the final of this series.
