2.05 Chester: Snow Master
Andrew Balding takes over with Snow Master and could have another horse with serious potential improvement in him. Snow Master won his first two starts in minor events at Yarmouth and was then stepped up massively into Group class events and found it beyond him. He is dropped into a handicap for his debut for the Balding stable and might well be running out of his grade. Oisin Murphy is on board and although bookies will take no chances given the trainer’s ability to improve runners from other yards, this looks a very interesting runner.
4.45 Chester: Pietro
James Fanshawe’s gelding has done all his winning on turning tracks and looks an ideal type for a competitive Chester handicap. He was most consistent and improved steadily throughout 2025 and carried on where he left off when making a winning reappearance on the all-weather in March. He has only been raised 2 lbs for that victory and, given his profile of steady improvement, he certainly looks able to defy such a rise over what is evidently his ideal trip for a Fanshawe yard that has been in very good form this spring.
8.00 Kempton: Farasi Lane (Nap)
Farasi Lane is off the same mark as when beaten on his hat-trick attempt last time out, but it wasn’t the weight rise that got him beat on that occasion. Farasi Lane was held up too far out of his ground and just couldn’t make up all the ground needed to win. He ended up a very creditable fourth and definitely looks as though he could win off this mark with better luck in running. He has won off much higher marks in the past including over this course and distance and while he is an eight-year-old, he could certainly still have more wins in him.
