Wednesday tips: Alex Scott marks your card

Our man Alex Scott tipped a 7/1 winner on Sunday and has three best bets for Wednesday's action at Salisbury and Carlisle - catch both meetings live on Racing TV!

3.45 Carlisle: Verse Of Love

William Buick has just one ride on Wednesday and it is this filly up at Carlisle. The daughter of Siyouni was a five-length winner on debut at Newmarket's Future Champions Festival last October in a race which contained plenty of useful types, including Pina Sonata who is two from two since then and is rated 94 after running out an easy winner at Leicester last month.
More often than not, the Newmarket maiden she won last year is won by a future Stakes performer and I will be surprised if this filly is not another. She reappeared in the Nell Gwyn Stakes back at HQ in April and could only manage seventh, but can be forgiven that performance in what looked a good renewal of the race and she probably just needed the run.
She returned to winning ways last time out with a comfortable success at Yarmouth and, whilst the form of that is nothing special, the third has at least came out and won since.
Her main market rival has also shaped with plenty of promise, but is yet to encounter ground this fast, and I fancy Verse Of Love to take another step forward and make it three wins from four starts.

3.55 Salisbury: Dark Thirty

Richard Hannon is having one of his best seasons for a long while, having already racked up 61 winners for the campaign, just 25 behind the total number of wins he accumulated in the whole of 2024.
His best chance of a winner on Wednesday looks to be the seasoned campaigner Dark Thirty, who faces tough opposition in the unbeaten Montpellier, but could well put his experience to good use and be up to the task.
He can be a hard nut to crack from the front on a going day and he shaped with plenty of promise when second at York in a big field handicap last time.
He has won off 4lb higher than this in the past and I think he is worth backing here against the favourite, who is stepping down in trip, something that is not necessarily sure to suit based on his strong finishing effort last time.

4.58 Salisbury: Tremorgio

I am hoping it is a double on the afternoon for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin as their Tremorgio looks to have a great chance in the 1m4f handicap at Salisbury.
He was a comfortable winner of his first two starts, firstly at Newmarket in the Autumn, and secondly on the all-weather at Southwell in February.
He then finished third, again over 1m4f at Southwell, where he came under pressure but stayed on well to finish third. The winner of that race has since finished third in the Lingfield Derby Trial and shaped with promise at Epsom.
I am hoping that Dougie Costello, knowing he has a strong stayer underneath him this time, makes use of his stamina here, and a mark of 88 does not look beyond him.
His main market rivals have questions to answer off the back of their latest runs, and with headgear being applied for the first time to Middle Ages, Appleby's three-year-old rates the most solid option.
