The leading rider has shared his views on Auguste Rodin, Little Big Bear, Meditate and more with
Betfair. Here's what he had to say:
Auguste Rodin and Moore winning the Vertem Futurity (Pic: Focusonracing)
Auguste Rodin
He's obviously a very exciting horse, should be unbeaten, but we missed the first day. Apart from that, he done everything right. The Vertem Futurity wasn't a straightforward race, but he done everything right, showed a good attitude. He beat a fair horse, the horse of Gosden’s (Epictetus) and he's going to be a better horse this year. Obviously, he's by Deep Impact out of Rhododendron. He ticks all the boxes, he's a real good moving horse and has a beautiful rhythm. So, we're looking forward to this season. I don't think he's going to struggle for pace (in the 2000 Guineas). He's got plenty of speed, his dam won a Lockinge. There’s plenty of pace there. He's moving beautifully at the moment and seems to be in a good place.
On his prospects in the Derby: "We always thought that's what he was, he got an awful lot of class and hopefully he’s a special horse.
Kyprios
Hopefully we’ll get him back at some stage, I’m lucky to ride him. Absolute privilege to ride a horse of his calibre.
Little Big Bear
When he got into top gear (in the Phoenix Stakes) he opened up in the last furlong there. He was very impressive and ran through the line. His last furlong was his best furlong. All he's done is finish off his race well, he's a very exciting horse. By No Nay Never out of a Bering mare. He's one that we're very much looking forward to and he could be a very good miler but we'll see as we haven't asked him a serious question yet. You never know until you try but he'll give himself every opportunity of staying a mile. He does everything right, got a super attitude. The way he ran through the line at The Curragh, you'd like to think that, a mile should be within range.
Luxembourg
He had an interrupted season last year. He started in the Guineas and ran well, but he had a setback coming out of that race. He won the Irish Champion and then, in the Arc, he got tightened up on the bend turning for home and I think he pulled muscles. He had to be put away for the rest of the year, but he's done well and got stronger. I think he'd be a better four-year-old than he was a three-year-old. He’s a big, strong boy.
Meditate
She ran pretty much every month last year. OK, she was beat in the Moyglare by a good filly but the ground was a bit soft that day. She was very good in America when stepped up to the mile. We are looking forward to her. I think she’ll run a big race in the 1000 Guineas. She's got a good long stride suited to Newmarket. She's well balanced and will come down the hill.
Never Ending Story
She'll be a better filly this year, a bit stronger. I think the mile will suit her well. She's got a few options (Guineas). We think she can be better, being a bit stronger and going up in trip.
Savethelastdance
A lovely, tough, uncomplicated golloping filly.
Statuette
She always shown plenty. She’s a big filly by Justify, shown loads of talent, loads of potential. It would be great if we could get her back soon because she should be exceptional; the feel she would give you at home. She’s a natural, loads of pace, a lot of talent. Hopefully we get her back.
Tenebrism
She gave me a good feel in Cork and done it very well. We have other potentially sprinters there like Aesops Fables and The Antarctic . . . I think he’s a good horse.
