Princess Day aiming to maintain perfect record at Aintree

Jeremy Scott is excited to see how his “big talent” Princess Day fares when she steps up in class in the Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Bumper at Aintree on Thursday.
Unbeaten in a point-to-point and two bumpers, she looks another nice type for owners Gordon and Su Hall, who saw their green and blue silks carried with such distinction at Cheltenham by Old Park Star and Act Of Innocence.
“I think she’s a lovely mare. It would be nice to get a run into her and get her out in the field actually,” said Scott.
“She’s been doing very well and I think she’s a big talent so it will be nice to see how she compares with everybody else.
“The owners have some nice horses on their hands, Tom Malone (bloodstock agent) has done very well for them.
“This will be the quickest ground she’s run on, good to soft would be absolutely fine but I wouldn’t want it any quicker than that.”
Scott would prefer to see some rain before committing Came From Nowhere to Saturday’s Turners Mersey Novices’ Hurdle.
Easy winner of an Ascot handicap on his penultimate outing, he looked like defying a 10lb penalty at Newbury last time out before making a hash of the last flight.
“Came From Nowhere would need some rain, we’re going up to Aintree on Wednesday and will have a good look at the ground then,” said Scott.
“It would need to be good to soft at worst tonight. I’ve been to Aintree before now when it sets off at good to soft in the morning and by the time you get to run it has dried out. There is rain forecast, it’s whether it’s enough.
“I’d love to run him if we could but the ground would need to be right.
“I felt he probably should have won last time but that’s history.
“If we don’t manage to run there’s the possibility of a race or Ayr or he could even go to Punchestown but he definitely wants as near to soft as we can get.”
