Take a look at all the weights allotted to this year's Randox Grand National entries plus read Andy Stephens' snap thoughts on their prospects. The big race will take place oin Saturday April 11. 1 I Am Maximus
Age: 10. Weight: 11-12 (rating 168).Odds: 12-1.
Won in 2024 and was runner-up last year. Only 1lb higher than last year and no reason why he cannot put in another bold show.
2 Banbridge
Age: 10. Weight: 11-11. Odds: 50-1.
Class act who came within a nose of retaining his King George crown on Boxing Day. Superb jumper but the trip is a big question mark. Will have other options at the meeting.
3 Nick Rockett
Age: 9. Weight: 11-11. Odds: 18-1.
Superb winner last year but absent since and back-to-back victors are a rarity. Nudged up 4lb and will not have had an ideal prep for his defence.
4 Gerri Colombe
Age: 10. Weight: 11-10. Odds: 66-1.
Won his first eight races and was a gallant runner-up in the 2024 Gold Cup but missed most of last season and has questions to answer.
5 Grangeclare West
Age: 10. Weight: 11-10. Odds: 20-1.
Third last year and might have won but for his blunder at the final fence. Bit hit and miss since but a player if replicating what he showed 12 months ago.
6 Grey Dawning
Age: 9. Weight: 11-10. Odds: 50-1.
Has won ten of his 19 starts and would tick plenty of the required boxes, but the Cheltenham Gold Cup is his principal aim.
7 Haiti Couleurs
Age: 9. Weight: 11-10. Odds: 14-1.
Keeps improving in chunks and already has an Irish National and Welsh National on his CV. The Gold Cup is next on his agenda but trainer has not discounted going for a famous double.
8 L'Homme Presse
Age: 11. Weight: 11-8. Odds: 50-1.
Been a grand servant over the years and been running well in defeat this term in what has been a challenging season for the yard. At 11, though, his window may have passed.
9 Spillane's Tower
Age: 8. Weight: 11-8 . Odds: 28-1.
Won two Grade One contests as a novice and got back on track when landing the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham last time. The Gold Cup seems his main aim.
10 Impaire Et Passe
Age: 8. Weight: 11-5. Odds: 50-1.
Has chalked up five wins at the highest level but has yet to qualify for the race (need a top four finish in a chase over 3m or further) and seems an unlikely runner.
11 Appreciate It
Age: 12. Weight: 11-4
His retirement was announced on Tuesday morning, so strike him from your calculations.
12 Firefox
Age: 8. Weight: 11-4. Odds: 40-1.
Showed new stamina reserves when a staying-on fourth in the Irish Gold Cup, but this would require an even bigger breath.
13 Gentlemansgame
Age: 10. Weight: 11-3. Odds: 40-1.
Not the most robust and yet to run this season. Won the Charlie Hall Chase in 2023 and was a distant third in the Gold Cup last year, when last in action.
14 Monty's Star
Age: 9. Weight: 11-3. Odds: 20-1.
Winless since the end of 2023 despite having plenty of ability. Has some smart form in the book and perhaps this is the kind of test he has been yearning.
15 Spanish Harlem
Age: 8. Weight: 11-3. Odds: 33-1.
Owned by the race sponsor, so a guaranteed starting place is just what the doctor ordered. Has had an eventful in staying chases, unseating his rider at the final fence when looking sure to win the Thyestes last time.
16 Lecky Watson
Age: 8. Weight: 11-2. Odds: 22-1.
Won the Brown Advisory last year but not much to shout about since, being pulled up in the Irish Gold Cup on his latest start.
17 Champ Kiely
Age: 10. Weight: 11-1. Odds: 50-1.
Signed off last season with a Grade One win and ran a cracker on his return. However, his most recent races have not gone to script.
18 Favori de Champdou
Age: 11. Weight: 11-1. Odds: 40-1.
Won the Paddy Power Chase at 66-1 over Christmas and impressed when winning over Cheltenham’s cross-country fences last time. He will be heading back there in March but new mark leaves him vulnerable.
19 Flooring Porter
Age: 11. Weight: 11-1. Odds: 66-1.
The two-time Stayers’ Hurdle winner ran his rivals ragged in the 2024 Kerry National, but he’s had problems since then and he’s not an obvious type to take to the various demands of
Aintree.
Josh Guerriero told us all about Iroko before last year's National
20 Iroko
Age: 8. Weight: 11-1. Odds: 6-1.
Ran a cracker when a staying-on fourth last year and his two runs this term point to him being in excellent fettle. Is 5lb higher in the weights, though, and the bookmakers are taking no chances with him.
21 Western Fold
Age: 7. Weight: 11-1. Odds: 40-1.
The second-season novice is building up a solid CV, although that is reflected by his rising rating. The Brown Advisory, at Cheltenham next month, is at the top of his agenda.
22 Three Card Brag
Age: 9. Weight: 11st. Odds: 33-1.
Trailed home eleventh last year when well fancied, but been in good heart this term, winning at Cheltenham in October before chasing home Panic Attack in the Coral Gold Trophy at Newbury.
23 Handstands
Age: 7. Weight: 10-13. Odds: 66-1.
Piped Jago Baie in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase last season and creditable efforts since without going to the next level. Extreme distance not an obvious for him.
24 Oscars Brother
Age: 8. Weight: 10-13. Odds: 25-1.
One of only two horses for his young trainer, but what an advert for his talents. The novice has won small-field Graded races on his past two starts but will need to brush up his jumping if turning up here.
25 Mr Vango
Age: 10. Weight: 10-12. Odds: 50-1.
One of the tallest horses in training. Dour stayer who won the Midlands National last season and came within a short head of landing the Becher, over the National fences in December. Disappointing last time and soft ground seems essential for him.
26 Beauport
Age: 10. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 100-1.
Runs in the colours of Corbiere, the 1983 National winner, and was in contention a long way last year before fading away after being too keen. Won the Midlands National in 2024 and so stamina no issue.
27 Better Days Ahead
Age: 8. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 40-1.
Sixth in the Irish National last year and his trainer suggested that would again be his target after an encouraging return over hurdles this month.
28 High Class Hero
Age: 9. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 40-1.
Grade One-winning hurdler whose close third in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown is worth a second look. Could be he resented heavy ground when below-par last time.
29 Ile Atlantique
Age: 8. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 66-1.
He’s yet to qualify and his stable has much more obvious contenders.
30 Resplendent Grey
Age: 8. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 33-1.
Fended off a strong Irish challenge in the bet365 Gold Cup and commands plenty of respect, for all he’s looked a bit quirky. Is 11lb higher in the ratings than at Sandown but has not stood still in the interim.
31 Stellar Story
Age: 9. Weight: 10-11. Odds: 50-1.
Runner-up in the Brown Advisory last season and may return to Cheltenham next month, for the Gold Cup, if the ground is deemed suitable enough. He’s a horse that falls into between two stalls and not the easiest to win with.
32 Captain Cody
Age: 8. Weight: 10-10. Odds: 20-1.
Given an audacious hold-up ride when winning the Scotish Grand National last spring. This will be a tougher assignment and similar tactics tricky to pull off. Early fall last time not ideal.
33 French Dynamite
Age: 11. Weight: 10-10. Odds: 66-1.
Proved his stamina for at least 3m when taking the Munster National at Limerick in the autumn but he’s easy enough to overlook here.
34 Jagwar
Age: 7. Weight: 10-10. Odds: 40-1.
Smart form at up to 2m5f, but he would probably need to run in the Ultima – and finish in the first four – to even qualify. And even then he might not show here. So, he’s very risky foir ante-post purposes.
35 Gorgeous Tom
Age: 8. Weight: 10-9. Odds: 66-1.
Useful novice who ran was eye-catching fourth in the Coral Gold Cup Trophy last time after being messed around at the start. There’s stamina in his pedigree, too, and the yard know what is required to hit the jackpot here.
36 Perceval Legallois
Age: 9. Weight: 10-9. Odds: 40-1.
Lookd to have plenty going for him last year and went off at only 10-1 in the betting but fell at the ninth. Has run poorly in his two races this term, but his connections can pull rabbits out of the hat, and you are getting much chunkier odds than 12 months ago.
37 Quai De Bourbon
Age: 7. Weight: 10-9. Odds: 40-1.
Was a good third in the Irish National last spring but he often seems to find the fences getting in his way and has been pulled up in both his races this term.
38 The Real Whacker
Age: 10. Weight: 10-9. Odds: 66-1.
Won the Brown Advisory three years ago, plus the Charlie Hall Chase in 2024. However, he has since found life tough, with headgear failing to reignite his spark.
39 Answer To Kayf
Age: 10. Weight: 10-8. Odds: 50-1.
Lightly raced ten-year-old. Won the Troytown at Navan in November and was a fair fourth in the Thyestes last time.
40 Croke Park
Age: 8. Weight: 10-8. Odds: 66-1.
Won a couple of Grade One contests last season, although he probably got a bit lucky in small-field afairs. Has had his limitations exposed this term.
41 Jordans
Age: 7. Weight: 10-8. Odds: 40-1.
Ran well at Cheltenham and
Aintree last spring, and easy enough to excuse him wilting in the Thyestes last time on account of the heavy ground. Joseph O’Brien has said Aintree will be on the cards for him after a run in the Bobbyjo Chase on Saturday.
42 Blizzard Of Oz
Age: 8. Weight: 10-7. Odds: 80-1.
Has lost his way in recent starts and is yet to qualify. His win at Wexford in October was over 2m7f, half a furlong short of filling the criteria
43 Now Is The Hour
Age: 9. Weight: 10-7. Odds: 28-1.
Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Thyestes last time and would have gone close in the National Hunt Chase last season had he not exited two out. Higher in the weights but not discounted.
44 Intense Raffles
Age: 8. Weight: 10-6. Odds: 66-1.
Seemed to hate every minute of last year’s edition and was pulled up, although connections said a bump at the start affected him. Past two efforts have also been lacklustre, so plenty to prove.
45 Final Orders
Age: 8. Weight: 10-5. Odds: 66-1.
Has taken a liking to the cross-country fences this season, which is encouraging with Aintree in mind, but is likely to be a huge stumbling block.
46 Marble Sands
Age: 10. Weight: 10-5. Odds: 66-1.
Showed a new side to him when pouncing from off the pace to win over 3m 3f at Cheltenham in November, although since been put in his place at Wetherby. Did not make much impact in the Topham last year.
47 Panic Attack
Age: 10. Weight: 10-5. Odds: 20-1.
This mare has been a revelation this season, pulling off the Paddy Power Gold Cup and Coral Gold Cup double in sparkling fashion. Has the blend of speed/stamina needed for the National and made the most of an easy task last time to keep her ticking over.
48 Top Of The Bill
Age: 10. Weight: 10-5. Odds: 100-1.
Stuck to his task when runner-up in Haydock’s Grand National Trial at the weekend, although it was a puzzling affair with all the runners finishing in a huddle. His overall claims are not compelling.
49 Blaze The Way
Age: 10. Weight: 10-4. Odds: 66-1.
Lightly raced over fences and put up a career-best when winning a 3m2f handicap at Cheltenham in December.
50 Johnnywho
Age: 9. Weight: 10-4. Odds: 33-1.
Looked the right type for the National when edged out in last year’s Kim Muir and got a sighter of the National fences in November. Latest effort was fairly dull but folly to completely rule him out.
51 Leave Of Absence
Age: 9. Weight: 10-4. Odds: 40-1.
Only once out of the first three in 11 races, being far from disgraced when third behind Haiti Couleurs and L’Homme Presse in the Denman Chase last time. Has hinted longer trips may suit, with his former trainer describing him as a “relentless galloper”.
52 Twig
Age: 11. Weight: 10-4. Odds: 50-1.
Never figured when tenth last season and, now 11, hard to see him doing much better, for all that he returned to Aintree in December to win the Becher Chase. There is a lot more depth to this contest.
53 Pied Piper
Age: 11. Weight: 10-3. Odds: 80-1.
Gordon Elliott has nominated him as an “interesting contender” but this strong traveller has a big stamina question to answer plus has never been one to find much. Took a heavy tumble latest, too.
54 Search For Glory
Age: 9. Weight: 10-3. Odds: 66-1.
Patchy overall record, and you must travel back to the autumn of 2024 to find his last victory. In his defence, might have found the
55 Stolen Silver
Age: 11. Weight: 10-3. Odds: 200-1.
Another stable switch means he is now in the care of Georgina Nicholls. Has offered little in a couple of handicap hurdles this term and been more than two years since he’s shown any worthwhile form.
56 Ain't That A Shame
Age: 12. Weight: 10-2. Odds: 100-1.
Ran a blinder to be sixth two years ago but the now veteran has been absent since plus moved yards.
57 Amirite
Age: 10. Weight: 10-2. Odds: 66-1.
Fourth in the Topham last year and filled same position in the Galway Plate. Handicapper has looked in charge.
58 Imperial Saint
Age: 8. Weight: 10-2. Odds: 50-1.
Richard Johnson famously never won the great race despite numerous attempts but now he has a shot with a horse he owns in conjunction with syndicate members. Loves the Mildmay Course at Aintree and was back to form when landing the Peter Marsh last time, but extra mile or so no obvious help to him.
