The signs were positive on Friday that Sandown will get the green light to race on Saturday despite the Esher venue having a light covering of snow on the track.
No jumps racing has taken place in Britain since Tuesday and the cold snap has already claimed the fixtures at Musselburgh and Wetherby on Saturday.
The Grade One 888Sport Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase will take centre stage should Sandown get the go ahead and Buveur D’air will have his traditional prep run ahead of the Champion Hurdle in the 888Sport Contenders Hurdle.
There is also some brilliant action in Ireland this weekend with eight Grade Ones at the Dublin Racing Festival, all of which will be shown live on Racing TV.
However, my best bets for Saturday run at Sandown and Kempton. Best of luck.
Keeper Hill scored in good style at Warwick last time out and looks capable of defying a 5lb rise in this £100,000 handicap.
Things did not go to plan for the eight-year-old over fences in 2018 but was found to have a kissing spine - which was operated on over the summer – and has got back on track over hurdles this season.
He is still relatively lightly-raced for his age, so there is likely to be more improvement to come, and his trainer, Warren Greatrex, has been operating at a 31 percent strike rate in the past fortnight.
The trip and ground will not pose a problem for the McNeill Family-owned gelding and useful conditional Harry Teal – who guided Keeper Hill to victory at Warwick - again takes a useful 5lb off.
Johnbb was made to work hard to justify short odds last time out but pulled clear with a rival who has a fair level of form and Johnbb showed a good attitude to get his head in front.
Tom Lacey’s youngster caught the eye when third behind recent Grade Two winner Birchdale at Warwick in December and the runner-up that day, Clarendon Street, was an easy winner on his next start.
Lucky Deal should have finished closer than fourth in his bid to complete a hat-trick at Chelmsford last time out and can get back to winning ways here.
The form of that race has been franked as the winner, and the runner-up, have both won again since and the four-year-old remains on the same rating of 91 here.
Both of Lucky Deal’s victories this season came over 1m6f but the step up to two miles will suit and is only 2lb above his last winning mark.
This will be his first start at Kempton but I see no reason why he should not handle the track and the 11-4 available with Bet365 and Coral looks fair.
