Racing TV's Martin Dixon casts his eye over Saturday's British action and picks out one to note after the abandonment of racing from Aintree.
(Selections first provided to subscribers to the Inside Angle newsletter on Friday afternoon - any odds mentioned were correct at that time). 2.25 Sandown: ALTOBELLI
Although he's yet to win a handicap from three tries I retain faith that Altobelli is a well handicapped horse yet to fulfil his potential. He impressed with how strongly he travelled on each of his first two starts last season and this looks set to be a strongly-run race on soft ground that I expect to see him to good effect. I saw him win at Carlisle as a novice and felt then he was a talented horse and the experience gained from contesting some tough handicaps will hopefully serve him well this season.

2.07 Aintree: IRON BRIDGE
ABANDONED
With more rain forecast overnight it's likely to be an extreme stamina test for this year's Becher Chase and that'll hopefully suit Iron Bridge who made an encouraging comeback at Carlisle last month, giving the impression that run would sharpen him up. There should be a strong pace on heavy ground and I can see Jonjo O'Neill taking his time and creeping into things on the final circuit and Iron Bridge should keep galloping as others tire. He's edged down to his lowest mark for a couple of years and hails from a stable that continue in good form.
2.42 Aintree: STATIC
ABANDONED
On official ratings this should be very tight between Static and the unbeaten Liam Swagger but with the ground likely to get very testing I'd have a strong preference for Static who was a dual winner on soft ground during his time in France. He couldn't match East India Dock last time but rallied gamely for second, looking a stout stayer for a juvenile, and I think his stamina and experience could make him tough to beat. Odds of 2/1 at the time of writing look too big and I can see him going off favourite.
