2.00 Fontwell: BEN LILLY
He has blinkers reapplied as well as his customary tongue strap and I am hoping they will wake up his focus for this race.
Ben Lilly has dropped to a rating below his last winning mark below after relatively few runs and he certainly hasn’t gone encouragingly on his recent efforts, a warm-up on the Flat and then finishing last at Hereford despite being quite well backed.
Ben Lilly goes very well for Gearoid Harney, who has scored on him twice, and the rider certainly did me a favour earlier in the week and is one obviously well worth his 7lb claim.
Ben Lilly should be an each-way price and, if on a going day, he can get into a place at least here.
3.00 Exeter: JAMINSKA
If Jaminska can get her jumping right she is a shoo-in to win a handicap off this sort of mark and I think she is worth the risk in this mares-only race.
The last time she put in a decent round of jumping she finished third in a Listed event at
and climbed to a rating of 112 after that, while she was going well when falling at
on her next run.
I feel Jaminska will be suited by this two-and-a-quarter miles on a stiff track like Exeter and, if there is a decent pace, hopefully she will get in a decent rhythm and stay on too strongly for these.
3.35 Exeter: COCO MADEMOISELLE
Dan Skelton’s six-year-old mare may well be a handicap blot and has to be the one to be with.
Point winner Coco Mademoiselle ran consistently well over hurdles last season, finishing first or second on all completed starts, and she looked as though the switch to fences was going to bring about further improvement when getting beaten just a neck on her debut at Worcester behind the useful
.
That race has already produced a winner despite the small field and the handicapper looks to have let this mare in lightly for this qualifier.
