Horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's best bets at Kempton on Saturday

This five-year-old is back at a track she has shown her best form at and has 7lb taken off her back due to the most-talked about apprentice of the year, Benoit De La Sayette, booked to ride.

Vibrance last won at Kempton off a mark of 80 and, on the face of it, was slightly disappointing when beaten five lengths into third behind Volcanic Sky off her current mark of 86 on her next start.

However, that winner is now running well off a 10lb higher rating, so the form might have been underestimated.

Benoit De La Sayette’s claim means the selection is now running off a pound lower than her latest victory, and the young jockey has already ridden a winner this year for James Fanshawe, who has had relatively few runners, so I don’t believe this is a warm-up run following a short absence.

This trainer and jockey combo are a gift for journalists who are on a word count, and Kevin Philippart De Foy and Benoit De La Sayette are two names that are going to be appearing in several columns regularly, judged by recent results.

Hint of Stars’ recent improvement has come since he left Jessica Harrington’s yard, and La Sayette has ridden him on his past two starts.

He scored under what is becoming a recognised trademark ride from the jockey last time out having been confidently ridden off the pace before being produced with a late run to win comfortably, and was value for more than the winning margin suggests.

He was 50-1 the first time he ran for the stable, but was supported into 11-4 favourite last time out, so the improvement was no surprise.

A 4lb rise since is lenient, as two winners have already come out of the race, and this horse was an expensive purchase at one stage, so would have been expected to be better than his rating of 75.

Jockeys have to make 50/50 calls in a split second, and the wrong call can make a big difference.

I watched Hollie Doyle make the wrong call on this one last time out when switching to the inner, and her mount met plenty of traffic problems in the home straight.

She was flying at the death, but couldn’t get any where near the winner who she was alongside over two furlongs out.

That rival switched wide and got a trouble-free run through, which obviously looked great, but the superiority was exaggerated, if indeed there was any.

Jeanette May might have been a little expensive to follow recently, but I can’t fault her, or her rider’s, attitude and if she gets the breaks, she will win one of these soon.

Parknacilla went up too high in the weights after a successful spell, so spent most of 2020 in the doldrums, but is now back down to basement level and showed her appreciation with a return to form in a similar event to this last time out.

That race was quite a competitive race for the level, and an in-form Parknacilla, who is usually ridden by a claimer, has a solid chance here. Henry Spiller also has his modest string in very good form.
