Our pundit Dave Nevison bids to maintain the winning thread this week with three picks from Ascot on Friday. Enjoy four Listed races from Gowran and Dundalk live on Racing TV, with dedicated coverage on Racing TV Extra.
Three very tricky handicaps at the end of the Ascot card might give an opportunity to string an each-way trixie together and tee the weekend up nicely. Changing ground may well be an issue, but hopefully these three will be okay.
She went into plenty of notebooks last time and looks a bet off the same mark here.
Ryan Moore will be on a mission on this filly, who got stuck in traffic at Yarmouth and got out of trouble too late to get her head in front. She went down by one and a half lengths but may well have won.
Liberated Lady was tried up to a mile and at Group 3 level earlier in the season, but has run two good races recently over six furlongs and should win one by the end of the season.
The ground (as I write on Friday morning) will be perfect for her, but if the rain forecast really hits Ascot I suspect she might be rerouted to Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Is now a non-runner.
If we allow for the fact that Sunray Major might be a Group class performer in the making, it seems sensible to go for a place opportunity in a race that bookies will be offering extra places for sure.
Furthermore, there is no doubt that Woven is handicapped to win something if things go well.
He gave himself no chance in the Ayr Silver Cup by going up in the air but had been running himself into form before that. He won twice over seven furlongs for David Simcock last season and it is beginning to look as though that will prove his ideal trip. His tendency to start slowly will hopefully hold him back less over this track which favours finishers and the application of headgear will hopefully be a positive move.
