2.25 York: Daiquiri Bay

Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 17-2.
I believe this prestigious race has had Daiquiri Bay’s name on it for a long time, and he has looked an ideal candidate for something like this ever since making his debut at Newbury as a two-year-old.
He won impressively on his reappearance at Chester, and was then he caught out in a small field at Doncaster. He has since run well when drawn very wide in a big-field handicap at Royal Ascot plus was then, surprisingly, dropped down in trip at Goodwood where he also performed well.
Daiquiri Bay’s dam improved with age and won over this trip and further up to Listed level. Being by New Bay, I think this trip on a conventional track can reasonably be expected to also bring about improvement in the selection.
Some bookmakers are offering four places here, and I will be disappointed if he doesn’t fill one of those.

3.00 York: Maranoa Charlie

Tipster: Alex Scott.
Best odds: 17-2.
One horse that this race has always been the plan for, certainly for the past two months, is French raider Maranoa Charlie.
He was acquired by Bond Thoroughbred Limited (based near Pocklington, Yorkshire) two months ago and was only narrowly denied on his first run in the familiar yellow and black colours in the Group One Prix Jean Prat when last seen.
The Wootton Bassett speedball gets a handy 5lb from his older rivals (three-year-olds won five successive renewals between 2015 and 2019 but have not won since) and is likely to either make the running or be prominent.

3.35 York: Hipop De Loire

Tipster: RaceiQ selection (Andy Stephens, watch below) and Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 7-2.
In Willie Mullins We Trust!
Dave Nevison says: I tipped this Willie Mullins-trained gelding in last year's Sky Bet Ebor, and I'm only just getting over the nightmare run he endured!
Although I am taking less than half the odds he went off at 12 months ago, I am working on the well-proven theory that Mullins doesn’t make the same mistake twice, and hopefully that also applies to Colin Keane, who rides once more.
Although only finishing in fifth, I am pretty sure Hipop De Loire would have gone very close to winning but for being continually stopped in his run. He has had a prep on the flat and scored easily over hurdles since then, and will be primed for this contest now.

4.45 York: Dickensian

Tipster: Ross Millar.
Best odds: 5-1.
This doesn’t look an overly deep contest for a Listed race at the Sky Bet Ebor meeting on a Saturday, with Coolmore declining to run all three of their entrants.
Dickensian has only won once from his four starts but, bar a poor effort at Ascot on his second outing, he’s been a consistent performer and his second place effort in the Windsor Castle is just about the best piece of form on offer.
He failed to cope with Lady Iman at Goodwood in the Group Three HKJC World Pool Molecomb Stakes on his latest run but still emerged with real credit, and is surely better than his official rating of 96, so the fact his trainer, Kevin Ryan, who targets this meeting, elects to run him here rather than in a Nursery boosts my confidence. This fast five-furlongs will also suit.

5.20 York: Greek Order

Tipster: Martin Dixon.
Best odds: 13-2.
I have been waiting all season for Greek Order to step back up in distance and, now he's granted that, he has to be of significant interest.
A spell in the US didn't work out for him as hoped, but he's run three fine races in defeat since joining Michael Bell's yard, and on each occasion, he just hasn't quite had the pace for competitive mile races.
His fourth in the Golden Mile has already been well advertised by runner-up Ebt's Guard's subsequent win, and I strongly believe he'll better that returned to ten furlongs on a galloping track plus sound surface.
The last time he had a similar combination of conditions was when bolting up in the London Gold Cup as a three-year-old. I nominate him as my nap of the day on Saturday.
