2.40 Goodwood: Warda Jamila

The only three-year-old in this field, Prince Of The Seas, is a very short price and, given his inconsistency so far in a light career, I'm inclined to have a small bet against him on Warda Jamila at the general 12-1 available, at the time of writing.
Andrew Balding's filly hasn't recaptured her very best so far this year, but the signs were more encouraging on her most recent start when stopped in her run and finishing with more in the tank.
She's now returned to her last winning mark, and her only previous visit to Goodwood saw her run very well. Although, as yet, she's unproven over this trip, she is stoutly bred (she's a half-sister to Coltrane) and seems to be relaxing better in her races now than she did in her younger days.

3.00 York: Never So Brave

All eyes will be on Rosallion as he drops back in distance from the top-class mile races, and there's no question he should have won the Qatar Sussex Stakes last time. However, given how others underperformed that day, I'm not convinced too much should be made of that point, and I was a little disappointed he couldn't beat Docklands at Royal Ascot prior to that.
Of course, he has a big chance, but given those slight reservations, and some concern over the widest draw in stall 11, I'm backing the thriving, and progressive, Never So Brave
From stall 7 under Oisin Murphy, he ought to get a perfect slot through the race, and this strongly-run 7f (courtesy of the likes of Quinault, Maranoa Charlie and Audience) should provide him with the set-up he needs for another career best.

4.10 York: Northern Ticker (each-way)

A promising and progressive juvenile last year, the fact that Northern Ticker has had such a light campaign so far could well prove to be a positive, and he mixed it with some smart sprint handicappers last time at Hamilton, despite a less-than-ideal draw as that race unfolded.
With front runners like Super Saiyan and Dark Thirty drawn close to him here, I'm hopeful he could be in the right spot, and Danny Tudhope is an ideal jockey booking for this strong traveller who retains more potential than most of the field. I'm surprised he's available at 18-1, at the time of writing.

5.20 York: Greek Order (Nap)

I have been waiting all season for Greek Order to step back up in distance and, now he's granted that, he has to be of significant interest.
A spell in the US didn't work out for him as hoped, but he's run three fine races in defeat since joining Michael Bell's yard, and on each occasion, he just hasn't quite had the pace for competitive mile races.
His fourth in the Golden Mile has already been well advertised by runner-up Ebt's Guard's subsequent win, and I strongly believe he'll better that returned to ten furlongs on a galloping track plus sound surface.
The last time he had a similar combination of conditions was when bolting up in the London Gold Cup as a three-year-old. I nominate him as my nap of the day on Saturday.
