1.50 Naas: Be In Love
Aidan O’Brien looks to have found a good first opportunity for his No Nay Never filly Be In Love, a €1,900,000 Goffs Orby purchase who is 4-1 to get off the mark at the first attempt.
A full-sister to the high-class juveniles Blackbeard and Charles Darwin, she is out of a precocious Born To Sea mare named Muirin, who won on debut and has produced a couple of debut winners from just four runners.
This six-furlong maiden is light on experience, bar the favourite who does not set a high standard on his four runs so far, and Ronan Whelan’s mount could be tough to beat on debut with her yard back amongst the winners this week.
2.30 Ayr: Darzah
The third race at Ayr is going to take some getting and, though she is yet to race on softer ground or over this distance, there is reason to believe the William Haggas-trained filly Darzah will go very well.
By Dubawi, who has an exceptional record with runners on soft ground, she is out of a mare who won over just shy of this trip in France, and Darzah is thoroughly unexposed, with just six starts to her name.
Her latest effort at Pontefract was a career best effort where she chased home another progressive three-year-old who has since gone very close to landing a class 2 handicap at Ascot.
This is a drop in class and she may well stamp her class on this field off an unchanged mark of 81.

2.38 Pontefract: Our Son Oscar
This is a novice low on quality and Our Son Oscar sets a decent standard after a debut third over this course and distance last month.
Strong in the betting, he was clearly showing good signs at home and duly ran a big race but he did not enjoy a smooth passage, getting boxed in swinging into the straight before running on well to finish a length and a half behind the winner.
His sire Starman had an excellent start to his stallion career last season and though his trainer Kevin Ryan has only saddled three winners over the last two weeks, he had a 33-1 winner at Doncaster on Sunday, plus had a 22-1 second on Monday, so clearly has his string in good form.
His course experience could prove crucial in this winnable race and the early 9-4 looks good value.
3.08 Pontefract: Sea Lantern
The one concern with this lightly-raced four-year-old is that he has been off the track for four and a half months, so he may need this first run back, but there is also a chance he could be thrown in off this opening mark of 85.
The son of Sea The Stars followed up his encouraging debut second to win over this trip in soft ground for Jack Davison last autumn at Roscommon.
Bought for 75,000 guineas after that win, he then finished third when giving away a huge amount of weight at this track in April on his debut for Brian Ellison, where he looked crying out for a step back up to a mile and a half.
The winner of that race is now rated 106, whilst the runner-up is unbeaten in two starts since being gelded in July. This is strong form and he looks set to run a big race if he is ready to go after a summer break.
