Tupi returned to these shores after trips to Dubai and Qatar to take the first race of the 2017 turf season, the Betway Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster.
The Richard Hannon-trained five-year-old had not graced the winner's enclosure since Newmarket in July 2015 but ran out an emphatic scorer of this Listed contest over six furlongs.
Produced by Ryan Moore, Tupi (7-1) burst into the lead and went away from his rivals in the closing stages to register a four-length success.
Captain Colby was second, with Pipers Note another neck away in third.
Moore said: " He was very impressive and he looked magnificent.
"The ground isn't too bad and that helped him.
"He had the best form going into the race."
Hannon told ITV4 Racing: "It's been quite a long time since he last won a race, but he's got loads of ability.
"We nearly sold him a couple of times as we almost lost faith in him, but you've seen how good he is there.
"When he started going good, Ryan held on to him a little bit.
"We've been to Dubai and Qatar and those places so it's nice to see him win."
Tupi could now be aimed at York's Dante meeting in May.
Hannon said: "He won two Listed races as a three-year-old but we've messed about with his trip.
"This time last year Ryan said he was a six-furlong horse but he's been running over seven and a mile.
"We'll look at the Duke of York now, and he might have an entry in the Abernant (Newmarket).
"He does pick his days, though, and he can throw in the odd shocker."
Ed Walker was delighted with the performance of the runner-up Captain Colby.
"That was a very good comeback run," said Walker.
"It was a very competitive Listed race and if you take out the runaway winner he's beaten the rest.
"I'd love to run him in the Wokingham (Royal Ascot). I think a stiff six furlongs off a strong pace is exactly what he wants.
"He might just be high enough in the weights to get in now."
