Betting expert Dave Nevison has struck with his past two naps, at 4-1 and 100-30, and marks your card for the action at Newmarket and Thirsk.
1.42 Newmarket: Twisting Physics
Jamie Spencer and Fitri Hey had a very good Dane Festival and can move on successfully to Newmarket with this lightly raced gelding.
Twisting Physics will be having just his sixth start in three seasons but he has already won a decent handicap over this trip at Newbury on his second and final start last season.
He reappeared after almost 12 months off at Newbury last time and did well to be beaten less than three lengths in sixth.
With a clearer run through he would no doubt have finished closer and he has been given a month to refresh.
2.50 Newmarket: Shah
I am happy to take a chance on a George Boughey-trained horse who has missed a season, specially as he figures on a good mark based on his previous form.
Boughey has gelded and given a wind operation to Shah whilst he has been on the sidelines, and both procedures could bring about improvement.
The four-year-old has never been out of the first two and won easily in a modest maiden when last seen.
Every horse that he finished behind has subsequently gone on to show Group class form, so a mark of 89 may underestimate him. Absence is an issue of course, and the market will be well worth a look, but with a yard like this, Shah may be worth risking.
3.27 Newmarket: Miraculous
Miraculous was a consistent sprinter last summer for Roger Varian before losing his form on his final two starts and being sold for £28,000 and moved to Tim Easterby.
The handicapper dropped him for the poor runs at the end of last season, which was justified, but it does look as though he might have been generous to continue dropping him this season based on his runs for his new yard.
Last time out he ran a good race at Chester despite not having anything go right for him in the race.
He was drawn wide and then that disadvantage was compounded by missing the break and having to wait for gaps to make a challenge. Miraculous is now running off a mark 2lb below his latest victory and looks to have a solid chance.
4.12 Thirsk: Harswell Ruby
Harswell Ruby was heavily backed to follow up a course and distance win at Wetherby last time, but nothing went right after she got bumped at the start and the punt was never going to be landed.
She was a largely consistent runner last season, including in a higher grade, and could easily bounce back to winning form this time.
Trainer Roger Fell is in good form and Joanna Mason, who won on her last time, is back on board.
