Top tips for Saturday: Dave Nevison has fancies at Ascot and Kempton

Nobly Born was a well backed failure at the Shergar Cup meeting where his jockey, top class but inexperienced at Ascot, made far too rapid a move and to my mind cost him second place at least.
The John Gosden-trained three-year-old is extremely well bred and one of the most lightly raced in the race but I feel he will live up to his pedigree in time and he can get back on track in the 5.05 at Ascot.
He certainly looked progressive when winning on softish ground at Newmarket on his previous start. He can beat Projection, who has had the ground go against him.
I probably am mad going with Glory Awaits in the big seven furlong handicap as he has certainly got a long string of previous convictions. He is undeniably well handicapped, though, and he has run well on his last two starts for in-form David Simcock.
In addition, he handles soft ground and the last time he ran in a big field Ascot handicap he ran much better than it appeared after meeting lots of traffic problems. He is 25-1 and the bookies will definitely be offering extra places. He might just surprise.
I have done plenty of money on Mazyoun ever since I saw him on one of my rare visits to Redcar last season.
He is a real looker but possibly does not have the heart to match his looks. However, it could be that he just prefers the all-weather and he looked comfortable when winning at Kempton on his penultimate start.
He did too much too soon when apprentice ridden last time out and Pat Cosgrave could be a significant booking in the London Mile Final back at Kempton (3.15).
His trainer, Hugo Palmer, has had winners on the last two days and Mazyoun should be backed each-way. There are 16 declared, so go with a bookie who is offering the four places if there is a late non-runner.
