1.50 Curragh: Retracement

Retracement looks to be a shrewd purchase from the William Haggas yard for just 24,000 guineas.
On his debut for the Johnny Murtagh team, he shaped with a good deal of promise when fifth in a Premier handicap here at the Curragh. He was given too much to do that day, yet ran on very strongly in the closing stages to be beaten just over two lengths.
He has been raised a pound for that effort but still looks well treated off a mark of 85 and can land this valuable handicap.

2.25 Curragh: My Mate Alfie

My Mate Alfie goes well at this track and won this race last year. He looked to be in good form last time out in the Greenlands Stakes where he was not seen to best effect, being caught wide with no cover from a low draw.
He has a good draw today in stall 7 and, with his trainer Ger Lyons being in good form, it looks as if he is ready to strike again.

4.10 Curragh: Lambourn

It is popular these days to knock the Derby form and many will want to oppose Lambourn. I am not one of those knockers; to my eye and according to the data, he was a good winner of the Derby, making all and finding plenty in the final three furlongs.
He did get an uncontested lead, but he didn't dawdle out in front and had all of his rivals in trouble some way out.
That performance produced an impressive time figure and I am happy to back him at a price that may be bigger than envisaged.

5.55 Curragh: Common Practice

This smart hurdler/chaser shaped with promise on his return to the Flat last time out and he looks sure to be suited by the step up in trip to two miles.
He is a Grade 3 Novice Chase winner who has plenty of raw ability so much so that a mark of 83 underestimates him.
He swaps cheekpieces for blinkers for the first time and, as long as they don't fire him up too much, he looks sure to run well.
