11.50 Newmarket: Dashing Dick
Dashing Dick might be advancing in years, but his recent efforts suggest his turn could be near again.
The William Stone-trained gelding’s last success was in this race 12 months ago and his brace of seconds at Leicester point to another big run being on the cards.
He is now 9lb lower than when winning last year, while he showed he handles slower conditions, both in this contest last year and on his latest start.
Although he is vulnerable to younger legs, he is likely to be on the premises again in receipt of stacks of weight from his rivals.
1.10 Wetherby: Koukeo
Koukeo looked badly in need of his run at Fontwell this month on what was his first start since April, but with that run under his belt he can cash in here.
Although making some headway late on during his last start, the Jonjo & AJ O’Neill-trained gelding finished like a horse that had been left with a bit to work on.
The quick ground will pose no problems for him, and he has now dropped to the same mark as his last win at Haydock in January.
1.25 Ascot: Glynn Brae (nap)
The switch to fences could be exactly what Glynn Brae needs in order to get his head back in front
Although he cut little ice on his return over hurdles at Chepstow, which was his first start since undergoing a wind operation, he is said to have schooled well over fences.
This is a trappy contest, and he has to give weight away all round, but he was a winner on his only other visit to the track at the end of last season, which makes him of even more interest.
1.53 Ayr: The G Wizard
Things have yet to fall right for The G Wizard in seven starts, but he could finally get his day in the sun here.
The step up to 3m seemed to suit last time out, with only race fitness catching him out late on up the run in on his comeback effort at Perth.
While the likes of Blue Las could still have more in the locker, he has fitness to prove unlike The G Wizard, who is also nicely perched at the foot of the weights.
If building on his last run, which with natural progression he should, then a career first win could loom.
