11.20 Newmarket: Space Party
Space Party is a maiden and has been beaten on his two handicap runs off the same mark he runs here.
However, I believe that the lightly raced Henry Candy-trained gelding can win off a mark of 77, and possibly higher going forwards, and could get a race run to suit here.
He was beaten just half a length when third to his shorter-priced stable companion last week and, before that, was beaten by a nose behind a strong improver at Kempton.
This contest looks like being truly run and that will play to Space Party’s strengths.
11.50 Newmarket: Dashing Dick
Trainer William Stone is having a good autumn and his veteran sprinter has a good chance of an overdue win for this season.
Dashing Dick may be an eight-year-old but his enthusiasm does not show any sign of diminishing and he has been a commendable runner-up on each of his past two starts.
The handicapper has left his mark unchanged and he may have his best chance of scoring here, not least because he could get an uncontested lead in a race he won last year off a 9lb higher mark.
He made all on that occasion and dug deep when challenged. A repeat could be on the cards.

Beagle Bay was giving the strong impression he might progress beyond handicaps in the spring when winning three times, culminating with a Sandown win from the subsequent John Smiths Cup winner Raammee, who is now rated 110.
Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old missed various engagements during the summer (ground related) but was backed off the boards when he returned at York recently.
The money stayed in the satchels of the bookmakers but he showed enough to suggest he had not lost his ability and could easily build on that here.
A mile is his trip and he has won twice on easy ground, so he will have no excuses.
3.58 Newmarket: George Wickham
George Wickham is progressing nicely and ran a blinder after a summer break behind a useful Harry Charlton-trained filly over this course and distance last time out.
Although this is a big field cavalry charge, I believe that could assist rather than hinder him, as he was doing his best work late on after being a little slow to get going.
The handicapper has raised him just 1lb for that run, which looks lenient, and Paddy Bradley was on board when George Wickham broke his maiden in July.
