A PLUS TARD

Trainer: Henry de Bromhead.
"A Plus Tard was runner-up in last season’s Cheltenham Gold Cup. I’ve picked him because he’s going to the Betfair Chase at Haydock which is left-handed, and that will suit him, and he could also go back to the Savills Chase (which he won last year) at Leopardstown over Christmas. You need Grade One winners if you are going to win this competition!"

APPRECIATE IT

Trainer: Willie Mullins.
"I think he’s my novice chaser for the year ahead. He was a brilliant winner of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and with him being one of the best novice hurdlers, he has every chance of being one of the best novice chasers."

CHACUN POUR SOI

Trainer: Willie Mullins.
"I’ve partly picked him because I’m a Willie Mullins man, but I believe he is going to go for the Tingle Creek at Sandown on December 4 and take on Shishkin, so he’ll do for me. Those bonus points would be nice to win early on."

ECHOES IN RAIN

Trainer: Willie Mullins.
"I’m looking for a horse that will crop up in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown on November 14. I thought she was a very good novice last year and if Honeysuckle goes for the Hatton’s Grace, Henry de Bromhead’s star mare might not run at Leopardstown over Christmas and instead go back to the Dublin Racing Festival."

ENERGUMENE

Trainer: Willie Mullins.
"I think Willie Mullins will try and keep Energumene and Chacun Pour Soi apart for as long as he can during this season, and I think Energumene could be the best two-mile chaser in Ireland this season, with Chacun Pour Soi set to go for the Tingle Creek."

FIL DOR

Trainer: Gordon Elliott.
"I thought Fil Dor was very impressive on his hurdling debut at Down Royal in October and he could rack up the points for me early in the season."

HONEYSUCKLE

Trainer: Henry de Bromhead.
"Honeysuckle jumps out and I am sure she will be high on everyone’s list. I’ve picked her for the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on November 28. She will probably end up winning the Irish Champion Hurdle again this season, and maybe the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and do what she did last year and win four Grade Ones from four runs. That would make her a pretty big points earner."

KILCRUIT

Trainer: Willie Mullins.
"He was unlucky in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival but he made amends at Punchestown on his next start and I think he could be the outstanding novice hurdler this season."

MINELLA INDO

Trainer: Henry de Bromhead.
"I believe he is going to go for the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day. I watched him at Down Royal (in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase) and I thought he looked well under-prepared. I think he will improve a hell of a lot for that and he could be one for the King George."

THYME HILL

Trainer: Philip Hobbs.
"I know he disappointed in France on his first start this season, but I expect him to bounce back in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. I think he will be the staying hurdler that will prove hardest to beat this year."
