Roderick Duncan announced as new clerk of the course at Huntingdon

The Jockey Club has announced that Roderick Duncan has been appointed as the new Clerk of the Course at Huntingdon Racecourse, taking on the part-time role from Friday 3 December.

Duncan has worked in racing for 14 years, primarily as Clerk of the Course at Southwell and Doncaster and overseeing improvements to the racing facilities and race programmes at both courses.

Duncan will succeed Jack Pryor, who has been Clerk at Huntingdon since 2016. Pryor will take on a new dual role within The Jockey Club from the same date, continuing as Clerk of the Course at Market Rasen in addition to becoming Event Director at the Blenheim International Horse Trials, which are organised by The Jockey Club.

He has been an integral part of sustained improvement in our race programme and overcoming the challenges we have faced caused by the weather, and we wish him all the very best in his new role.”

Huntingdon was one of the first racecourses I ever visited and I can’t wait to begin working with the team with some top-quality jump racing coming up over the winter months.”

“It has been a great five years at Huntingdon and I’ve learnt a huge amount thanks to the brilliant team on course and their passion for the racecourse. I’d like to thank the trainers, jockeys and owners for their support over the years. We’ve hosted some of the very best horses in training and there is plenty to look back on and be proud of.

“I’m excited to be taking on my new dual role, continuing to work at Market Rasen alongside new responsibilities in delivering Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, as we look to build on the success of this year’s event in the years to come.”
