Precautionary inspection called for Midlands National meeting at Uttoxeter

The Betfred Midlands Grand National meeting at Uttoxeter on Saturday is subject to a precautionary inspection at 8am.

Officials reported the course to be raceable at Friday lunchtime, but are wary in case forecast rain should become worse than predicted.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore said: "We're raceable at the moment, it's just in case the forecast rain has more of an impact than we are anticipating. We are just being prudent."

The Midlands National is the highlight of an eight-race card and is due off at 3.35.
