Martin Dixon's Saturday tips: three selections for Newmarket

Top pundit Martin Dixon has three fancies on Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai July Cup day at Newmarket on Saturday, live on Racing TV!

2.12 Newmarket: Royal Velvet (each-way)

Best odds: 7-1.
My first fancy on Saturday is Royal Velvet each-way in the Trustatrader 20th Anniversary Fillies' Handicap.
She's just a very consistent, likeable filly, and her form this season has been steadily progressive. William Buick is also a positive jockey booking, especially with how well he has been riding at Newmarket this week.
This is the first time Buick will have ridden Royal Velvet who was beaten in a tight finish over course and distance last time out. I live her draw in stall one, and I wouldn't be surprised if she came towards the stands' side. I certainly don't think that is a negative place to be on this track, and she's a solid contender with conditions to suit.

3.25 Newmarket: Mister Winston

Best odds: 6-1.
I like the chances of Mister Winston here for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy.
He's a big horse who I think is really progressing in his three-year-old season. He's got better with each run so far, and the handicapper looks to have given him a chance leaving him on a rating of 84 following his win at Chester last time out.
I thought that was a pretty good race, and he defeat an odds-on favourite trained by Ralph Beckett called Circios who had made a promising start to his career prior to that, and Mister Winston was well on top at the finish.
The selection is a forward-going horse who travels well through his races, and I think he will be suited by the demands of this track.

4.35 Newmarket: Believing (each-way)

Best odds: 9-1.
I think we can afford to give her a pass for her effort in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out given her low draw did not help her on that occasion. She had also been remarkably consistent in Group One sprints before that.
She's a tough filly who has got a better draw, I think, on this occasion where she will be able to race in the middle of the pack, and will probably be able to follow some of the pace as the likes of Spy Chief and Inisherin are not drawn too far away from her.
I think the race will set up better for her here and I am willing to forgive her latest effort, and she looks a fair each-way price at the general 9-1 on offer.
