Our betting expert Dave Nevison has three selections on another day of thrilling action at Newmarket's Debenhams July Festival - catch the entire meeting live on Racing TV!
1.50 Newmarket: Urban Glimpse
There are several lightly raced improvers in this race, but for my money Urban Glimpse has the best recent form in the race and can deservedly land his first win of this season.
He has finished runner-up on both his starts so far and was beaten just half a length at York last time behind Dante’s Lad, who has gone in again since, as have two others who finished further down the field.
That form looks very strong and, having been raised just a pound, Urban Glimpse still looks well-handicapped and has Murphy on board for the first time this season.
3.00 Newmarket: Endless Victory
Ian Williams saddles three serious contenders, but after much deliberation, I have come down to Endless Victory as the class act in the race who may well be able to defy top weight.
Ascot’s Copper Horse Handicap was the Godolphin four-year-old's first try at this trip and, after a poor start, ended up being a “sighter” for another day such as this one. He certainly seemed to get the trip, staying on nicely under hands and heels at the death, but too far off the pace to challenge in the short Ascot straight.
He was only beaten about five lengths at the line and looks well capable of winning a race like this.
5.20 Newmarket: Grandlad
Grandlad might well have bounced on his penultimate start after a promising reappearance effort, but he ran really well on his latest outing at Windsor.
James Horton could definitely do with a winner at a high profile meeting such as this and signalled his string were in good form with success at Brighton on Wednesday so the signs are strong.
This isn’t the most competitive 0-90 sprint handicap ever run at Newmarket, with the top weight rated just 87, and several runners arrive here in lesser form than the selection. He is now just 3lb lower than when he last won at Goodwood in June last year.
