Dave Nevison put up four winners and four seconds last week, with winning SPs including 11/1 and 11/2 in a profitable week. Our resident website tipster shares his best bets from and in his first column of the new week.
2.28 Leicester: QUESTIONABLE
Questionable seemed to enjoy the step up to 10 furlongs when winning at Sandown Park last time and, given the similarity of this track, he should go well again.
It was noticeable that the three-year-old seemed to settle very well racing off the pace, which probably meant he had enough energy left in the tank for the finish. He will need all his reserves in this really testing ground but, given he has acted well on heavy going in the past, I expect he will last home well under excellent apprentice
.
3.05 Market Rasen: COURT IN THE ACT
Harry Derham has his string in excellent form now that the jumps season is getting into full swing and I think it is interesting that he runs this very promising handicap hurdler off top weight of 12st for his seasonal reappearance.
Derham is clearly thinking he has a class angle at this level and, despite a weight of 12st, Court In The Act may have a less strenuous return to action than if pitched against stronger opposition.
Last season, Court In The Act performed consistently well when winning a bumper and a novice event before running perfectly well in perhaps the most competitive novices’ handicap of the season at Sandown Park on his final start.
4.35 Market Rasen: LUNAR OCEAN
Rated just 74, Lunar Ocean is possibly going to be the lowest-rated horse I tip over jumps this season but in a very moderate novices’ handicap chase I believe he could go very close to making a winning debut over fences.
The five-year-old went off at enormous prices in novice hurdles for Paul Webber and didn’t go off much shorter when he was switched to handicaps on his latest two starts, but he definitely showed something to suggest he can figure off a lowly rating when finishing third on his final start for that yard.
New trainer
has had a couple of winners over the summer from very few runners and it is interesting that he has switched Lunar Ocean to fences on his first start.
