Harry Allwood tipped Stike Red (6-1 SP but available at bigger prices the night before) on Saturday, a horse he mentioned for the York race in an plus our man also tipped Desert Flower in his on Friday. Harry has picked out three bets for Monday's action, including at Musselburgh and Roscommon, live on Racing TV.
3.50 Musselburgh: Nibras Angel
Best odds: 10-1.
She may not have progressed as expected since winning her first two starts in impressive style last year, after which connections did have Group One aspirations for their daughter of Harry Angel, but Nibras Angel is lurking on a dangerous mark and has caught the eye on a couple of occasions in recent months.
The four-year-old raced in Meydan and Abu Dhabi at the beginning of the year and fared creditably in a couple of Group Two contests, and was raised to a rating of 95. That meant she struggled returning to handicaps and, as a consequence, her mark has declined to a rating of 87.
However, she was always going to struggle from a wide draw in a red-hot handicap at York on her return to Britain and fared better than the result suggests in a similar handicap to this next time out (off a rating of 90) where she was short of room at a crucial stage, and wasn't given the hardest time once her chance had gone.
It was no surprise she was outclassed in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, and she returned from a 108-day absence to finish a staying-on third in a 0-90 handicap.
That effort suggests she's capable of scoring off a pound lower mark here considering she is entitled to strip fitter for the outing, and Newmarket handler Ismail Mohammed surely isn't sending her to Musselburgh for a day out on her own. She's worth supporting each-way at the 10-1 available.
4.00 Hereford: Honey I'm Good
Best odds: 5-1.
looked a mare firmly on the up when winning a pair of handicap chases at Newton Abbot last summer in decent style, and it's fair to say she was a shade disappointing after that, with her rating steadily declining to 90 over the next 12 months.
She did perform respectably in defeat on a couple of occasions, though, and a short break plus the booking of Adam Wedge sparked a revival when the eight-year-old was successful off a rating of 90 over fences at Stratford in August.
Evan Williams' mare backed that effort up when second in a better race off a 3lb higher mark next time out, and that performance makes her potentially well treated as she returns to hurdles on a rating of 85.
She was second off a 16lb higher mark over the smaller obstacles last season and if she can continue in the same form she has been in over the past couple of months, then a big run is on the cards here.
The ground conditions should be fine for her, and she relishes a stamina test plus Adam Wedge is aboard again, which are all further positives.
4.45 Roscommon: Palo Duro
Best odds: 11-4.
This lightly-raced four-year-old will no doubt have entered plenty of Racing TV Trackers after his past couple of starts and certainly looks a 'winner in waiting' based on those two efforts.
Palo Duro was sent off at large odds in three maidens last year before shaping as though the outing was needed on his handicap debut, and return from a break, at Navan in May.
He was then dropped back in trip to a mile and kept on in eye-catching style from the back of the field to finish a never-nearer eighth at Galway under Colin Keane.
It was therefore no surprise that the selection was upped markedly in trip to 1m4f at the same venue, and he travelled powerfully before encountering traffic problems before flying home to finish second.
He would have won in a few more strides, and while he has been raised 6lb since, he is surely capable of further progress over this trip, and the booking of Keane catches the eye again.
Any market support would also boost confidence and it will be disappointing if he doesn't go close again on Monday.
