Tipstar champion Katie Midwinter has fancies at the Curragh, Newbury and Deauville this Saturday with live action from Irish Flat headquarters as well as Newmarket, Perth, and all live on Racing TV.
1.45 Curragh: Rock N Roll Rocket
By Far Above,
was purchased for £125,000 at the Goffs London sale in June ahead of his run in the Windsor Castle Stakes. He finished down the field at Royal Ascot, stumbling when coming out of the stalls, and has since switched yards from
to David Loughnane.
His previous run is worth forgiving, as he had previously shown significant promise on debut to beat subsequent maiden winner and Listed runner-up Powerful National, now rated 100.
He was disappointing on his following effort, perhaps unsuited by the softer conditions, but a mark of 78 appears lenient. He has plenty to find on ratings, but he has form to match the level shown by the leading contenders in this field.
Capable of holding his own in this company, Rock N Roll Rocket shouldn’t be discounted and can spring a surprise.
3.00 Newbury: Spangled Mac
Although he has a hefty weight to carry from a mark of 97, Spangled Mac has proven himself in similar circumstances in the past and has run well in competitive handicaps, notably when fourth in last year’s Buckingham Palace Stakes.
The course-and-distance winner is 1lb above his last winning mark courtesy of succes at
last year. He became detached following a slow start on that day but managed to make up the ground impressively to win, giving 11lb to runner-up
who’s now rated 91.
The likable five-year-old has
aboard for George Boughey and can show significant improvement for his most recent run at Ascot, when found to be lame post-race. Having had a break since, Spangled Mac can return to form in this 7f contest and holds strong each-way claims at an enticing price.

The five-year-old daughter of Muhaarar, representing an in-form Jessica Harrington yard, can go well again in familiar surroundings at Deauville.
With form figures of 114 at the track, including Group Two and Group Three wins and with her sole defeat in Group One company, Trevaunance has proven course form at this level and that should hold her in good stead.
The drop back to a mile and a half will suit as she struggled to make all over an extra two furlongs when last seen at Fairyhouse, and there is plenty to like about her chances under usual partner
.
5.45 Curragh: Ice Cold In Alex
This is a competitive handicap but
has form in big-field contests and, considering he's 14lb lower than his last winning mark, has an excellent chance of making the frame with some luck in-running.
Things haven't gone his way in his two most recent runs but previously he had performed consistently well in three starts at the beginning of the season when rated 4lbs higher.
The course-and-distance winner will likely have to break well to get into a more forward position than in recent runs and, if he is able to avoid any traffic problems, he is well handicapped under 3lb claimer
and holds each-way claims.
