Gary Moore hopes
Ar Mad will be back on top form in time for the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 9 after being found to be under the weather following the Haldon Gold Cup.
Moore's Grade One-winning chaser scoped dirty after being pulled up when well behind in the Exeter feature on Tuesday won by Politologue.
That was his first start since he finished fourth to Un De Sceaux in the Tingle Creek last December.
"On the Friday before he ran he scoped clean, his blood count was good but after the race I couldn't believe it. He had an inflamed trachea and mucus," the West Sussex trainer told At The Races.
"Also, I told Josh (Moore, son and jockey) to drop him in but that didn't suit him and I think the ground went far too heavy for him. Don't write him off yet.
"He's got a month to get over it so it should be enough time to get him right for the Tingle Creek."
