2.25 York: French Master (E/W)

John and Thady Gosden-trained French Master finished fourth in the Goodwood Cup when last seen, well-beaten by winner Scandinavia, but he didn't get the most favourable of trips around and could fare better here.
In his penultimate start at Royal Ascot, he was beaten only a neck by Illinois in the Queen Alexandra Stakes, staying on well and proving his stamina credentials, therefore should be able to make his presence felt over this distance in calmer waters.
The five-year-old gelding beat Caballo De Mar in the Copper Horse Stakes last year when equipped with first-time blinkers, which replace cheekpieces in this contest. He performed well at Group Two level over a mile-and-a-half earlier this term, when beaten a length-and-three-quarters by Santorini Star at Newmarket, and could outrun his odds at the early 16-1 available.

3.00 York: Never Enough (E/W)

Unexposed colt Never Enough needs to prove himself at this level, but has done little wrong in two starts to date and was impressive when winning an Ascot maiden previously won by subsequent Mill Reef Stakes winner Words Of Truth.
Entitled to continue showing further progression, the son of No Nay Never could have plenty more to give and may be worth keeping onside at an each-way price. Out of a three-time Listed-winning sprinter in Frenetic, and with plenty of black-type in the family, he could be capable of making a successful step up to this level and is one of the unknown quantities in the field whose ceiling of ability is yet to be reached.

3.35 York: Asfoora

Bidding to successfully defend her title in the Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes, Australian mare Asfoora makes appeal once again following a promising Goodwood run.
She hadn't been seen to best effect in her previous runs in Britain this year, although she was only beaten two-lengths in the King Charles III Stakes, but proved she still retains plenty of ability when fourth to American Affair in her latest run and has proven course-and-distance form in this race on the Knavesmire.
In what is expected to be her swansong, the likeable mare is more than capable of producing the fairytale ending at the magical festival, and it would be a fitting end to a glittering career should she finish first past the post as she did twelve months ago.

4.10 York: Shadow Dance (E/W)

Sporting a first-time tongue-tie as well as first-time cheekpieces, Shadow Dance is an interesting contender for Rebecca Menzies and Kaiya Fraser in this competitive mile-and-a-half handicap. He was sent off at odds of [9/1] for the Ebor last year, but didn't quite see it out well enough to have an impact on the race.
Since his previous trip to the Knavesmire, the grey was sent off as joint-favourite for the Mallard Handicap at Doncaster, when seven of 13 runners, before changing hands, leaving the Roger Varian stable to join new connections. He hasn't been at his best in three runs so far this year, but could be worth keeping the faith in from a lower mark of 89 with the addition of headgear a reason for possible improvement too.

6.45 Hamilton: Sir Yoshi (E/W)

From a mark of 89, Sir Yoshi is one to note for Geoffrey Harker and David Nolan in this 5f handicap sprint. He hasn't won since a maiden success for former trainer David Marnane in his third start as a juvenile, but has since placed at Listed level and gone close in handicaps from higher ratings, including when on a mark of 97 when beaten half-a-length at Navan.
In his penultimate start, the four-year-old gelding was beaten only a length by Badri in a Pontefract handicap when rated 1lb higher. He's on a workable mark currently and could finally strike for his current yard in calmer waters than when last seen at Ascot.

7.15 Hamilton: Shoot To Kill (E/W)

Shoot To Kill returns to Britain from a 6lb lower mark than his last handicap success, and appears well-treated at the weights for Noel Kelly. He has changed hands on a number of occasions over the past few years, but has often been a reliable performer when getting a favourable trip over 7f up to around a mile.
This 6f distance is a new challenge but he isn't shy on speed and could be tough to pass if able to get away sharply and gain a prominent position. He's a likeable horse on a workable mark under in-form rider Shane Gray, and should make his presence felt.
