1.50 York (Lowther Stakes - 6f)
Libertango was an impressive winner of the Albany over this trip at Royal Ascot, winning despite being drawn on the wrong side of the track. On her next start in the Duchess of Cambridge she was gunned down late on by Queen Mary winner Senorita Bonita, and I have no doubt the form line of the five-furlong race from Royal Ascot is stronger.
However, at Newmarket Libertango failed to settle in a moderately run first part of the race and then had to do a lot of work to get to the lead of a patient ride, which left little in reserve to repel the late challenge of the winner. Granted a more evenly run race, I think she'll resume her winning sequence.
Those wanting an each-way price might want to consider Shimmering Sun. She ran home well from a poor track position in the Queen Mary and then again when flashing home late after lacking racing room in a Listed race last time out. She looks ready for the step up to six furlongs and is overpriced at 28-1.
Selection: Libertango
Each-way selection: Shimmering Sun
4.45 York (Nursery Handicap - 7f)
When judged against his two-novice wins, a mark of 88 on his handicap debut looks no more than reasonable for Perfect Nation - he chased home the high-class Flann Sunna who has a rating of 99 on his debut effort over six furlongs at Windsor.
The trip on that occasion and a lack of racing room made that a performance worthy of an upgrade. He represents a yard in good form and is the pick of stable jockey Billy Loughnane.
Selection: Perfect Nation
Friday
3.00 York (Gimcrack Stakes - 6f)
This looks by far the most open group contest of the week for the juveniles. Arapaho Gold has been a flagship horse for his sire Bayside Boy and boasts a perfect three from three record. He is in to deeper waters here, though I do think he'll confirm recent form with Agamemnon who was two lengths behind when they met in a Listed contest at Newbury.
Adaay Of Scarlett has had a busy season with six runs already and is deserving of Group success having thrice been runner-up at Group Two level. I don't, however, see the first time cheekpieces as a positive after such a busy campaign.
Marco Polo only made his debut twelve days ago, but shaped well in second and, like plenty from his illustrious yard, is capable of vast improvement.
My tentative selection would be Mrair. He caught the eye when grasping the job late on when second behind Group Two winner Al Hudaiba on his debut before winning cosily on his second start.
He was only seventh in the Coventry at Royal Ascot, but endured a luckless passage, still only a length and a half behind Adaay Of Scarlett. He arrives here fresh and, providing this keen going colt settles, then he surely has a chance of landing this.
Selection: Mrair
4.45 York (Convivial Maiden - 7f)
A race that should be watched with your Racing TV tracker open as year on year it throws up plenty of future winners.
It's wide open, but I'd side with
Lancaster Tower. Many will think he was disappointing when only third as odds-on favourite at Sandown on his debut, but I saw plenty of positives.
He travelled supremely well through the race and, although he weakened into third late on, that did come as a result of a protracted duel with the winner who had the advantage of previous race experience and fitness. He'll prove a different proposition here and the flat track can also be seen as a positive.
Selection: Lancaster Tower
Wednesday
2.25 York
Haffner is a fine-looking, imposing colt. Having shown plenty of promise in his debut over six furlongs at the Curragh, he then duly showed improvement when stepped up to seven furlongs on his next start in a competitive looking maiden at Newmarket, despite hanging left in the closing stages.
Given his size, I'm not sure the good to firm ground, and the unique layout of the Newmarket track, were to his benefit, and, while the ground wasn't as fast at Goodwood last time out, I was of the view that we still didn't see the best of him in the Coral Vintage Stakes. He still performed well chasing by chasing home a talented winner in Dr Rascal, though.
The flat, fair track at York, coupled with the fact that finally some rain has taken the 'firm' out of the going description, should offer him far more suitable conditions, and I'm expecting a big performance.
Selection: Haffner.

5.20 York
I flagged Henley On Thames after his third run in the 'Nursery Time' section of this column, suggesting a step up to six furlongs would see him improve. Since then, he's landed a Hamilton maiden in good style over that trip, yet his opening mark of 79 remains unaltered, which is pleasing.
That win came in a small field of just five runners, but he's got good experience behind him and, given his first three runs were over the minimum trip, he should be able to cope with the likely strong early pace.
He powered home at Hamilton and, granted a clear run, I believe this opening mark underestimates his true ability. The form of his yard, who are without a winner for 17 days from eleven runners, would be of some concern, though.
Selection: Henley On Thames.
