Two meetings on Racing TV on Sunday, with the Galway Festival coming to a close. I have four selections.
2.10 Market Rasen: Pencreek
This horse has improved markedly since being fitted with cheekpieces, winning his past two starts and the hat-trick awaits.
He cruised to success at Stratford three days ago and such was the ease of that success that he is unlikely to recoil from that effort. His trainer, Ben Pauling, is in good form and has an impressive record with his summer jumpers striking at 27%. I expect this horse to dominate and win easily, despite his 7lb penalty.
3.20 Market Rasen: Mac Suibhne
I think this horse should be unbeaten for Mick Hammond. He won here at Market Rasen on his debut for the yard and then was unlucky not to win at Worcester.
He was travelling strongly when badly hampered on the home turn, nearly losing his rider. Despite this inconvenience he rallied to get to the front, but that effort took its toll and he flattened out late on to finish fourth. I have no doubt that he would have won had he not been hampered and he can make amends.
Enjoy a day at the races on us! Find out more about Racing TV Club Days.
4.10 Galway: Current Option
He won this handicap in 2020 and 2021 and can repeat the dose. He clearly goes very well at this track and is well treated.
His wins in this race came off marks of 99 and 105, and racing off 97 this time clearly gives him a big chance of winning this again. He comes here in good form having finished fourth at Galway last time out.
As long as he can fashion a good trip from his wide draw, in stall 13, he looks sure to go well.
4.20 Market Rasen: Cawthorne
Cawthorne is in great form, having won his past two starts over fences and now looks to be well treated returning to hurdles.
He won last time out at Uttoxeter off a mark of 92 yet gets to race here of 86 and can take advantage. His one success over hurdles came here at in 2020, where he easily landed a handicap hurdle off a mark of 79. This is not a strong race and he can complete a hat-trick of wins.
'Magic Man' Joao Moreira lands the first-ever US$1m Abu Dhabi Gold Cup - on his first ever ride at the track - aboard Japanese contender Strauss in a rich international field for one of the richest Listed prizes in the world racing calendar.
The likes of James Doyle, Ryan Moore and William Buick were among the further top international jockeys in action in the first edition of a race that promises to go from strength to strength.

Dinoblue was a straightforward winner when defending her title in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Mares Chase at Naas.
The Willie Mullins-trained chestnut was one of three entries in the race for owner JP McManus, with only Gavin Cromwell’s 80-1 outsider Je T’Ai Porte not carrying the green and gold silks.
Dinoblue, highly consistent in these mares’ events, was ridden as usual Mark Walsh and the 1-8 favourite provided him with a stress-free victory as she came home 11 lengths ahead of Bioluminesence.
Frank Berry, racing manager to McManus, said: “She’s a great bit of stuff, she turns up every day. You could set your clock by her.
“She jumped great and she handles that ground very well. You couldn’t ask for better.
“It was a nice prep, a nice bit of work and you couldn’t be happier. Mark was delighted with her.”
When asked about her heading back to Cheltenham, Berry added: “That’ll be Willie’s plan, I’m sure.”
Paddy Power left her unchanged at 7-4 for the Mares’ Chase which she won last season.

Steel Ally is three from three over fences after a wide-margin win in the Bet Smarter With Oddschecker Kingmaker Novices’ Chase at Warwick.
Sam Thomas’ eight-year-old was the 10-11 favourite in a small field of three, with Ben Pauling’s Mambonumberfive considered his key rival at 11-8.
It was the outsider, Dan Skelton’s Mirabad, who made the running at a good pace and that took its toll as Mambonumberfive lost ground over his fences.
Steel Ally fared best of all, taking over at the head of affairs turning into the straight to canter home 10 lengths ahead under Dylan Johnston.
Coral cut the winner to 10-1 from 20s for the Arkle at Cheltenham.
“He was very good. I’m really pleased to keep him unbeaten over fences and though there were only three runners, I thought it was a pretty true-run race,” said Thomas.
“I was thrilled to see him put a bit of distance between him and the horses behind him.
“He had a couple of blips over hurdles but on the whole he’s been very progressive for us and he’s certainly showed that he likes jumping fences.”
Of future plans for the horse, Thomas added: “The Arkle is most certainly an option, he has the entry and it’s to be discussed with the boss, Mr (Dai) Walters (owner).
“We’ve got a few weeks to make a decision and I couldn’t say either way today, but he’s a lovely horse and a lovely horse for the future.”

Jockey Philip Byrnes caused a social media storm with an admittedly soft unseat at the final hurdle in a race at Wexford in May 2025, with victory looking a near-formality aboard Redwood Queen, the mare trained by Charles Byrnes, the jockey’s father. A report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has concluded the rider is culpable of ‘poor horsemanship’ but has dismissed any foul play.
