Our man Harry Allwood kept a close eye on the action on Racing TV on Monday and selects four horses to add to your Racing TV tracker.
It was a busy day on Racing TV on bank holiday Monday with 37 races shown live across five meetings.
Aidan O’Brien’s weekend was hugely successful having trained the winner of the 2000 and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and his good run of form continued as Magical and Happen landed the two Group contests at the
Curragh.
Magical cruised to success in the Coolmore Highland Reel Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes and is likely to return to the
Curragh for the Tattersalls Gold Cup on May 26.
She gave the mighty Enable plenty to think about in in the Breeders’ Cup Turf last year and looks set for a big season.
Ryan Moore received the plaudits after Happen came from the clouds to get her head in front on the line in the Coolmore Gleneagles Irish EBF Athasi Stakes.
O’Brien confirmed his three-year-old is now set to run in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas on May 26 and a step up to a mile looks sure to suit.
Below are four horses who caught the eye and are worth adding into your Racing TV tracker.
Doncaster Rosa ran a race full of promise on her racecourse debut in this five-furlong contest.
The youngster was not the quickest away and was soon outpaced in the rear of the field before staying on nicely to snatch second in between two rivals with racecourse experience near the finish.
Ivan Furtado’s two-year-old breeding suggests she is certain to benefit from a step up in trip and the way she shaped here backs that up too.
This may not have been the strongest Novice Median Auction Stakes, but she should be capable of getting off the mark in a similar race next time out.
The son of July Cup winner Dream Ahead did not get the clearest of runs at a crucial stage and the winner got first run on him. I don’t think he would have beaten Dermot Weld’s charge, but he would have finished closer.
Although Eclipse Storm raced keenly in the early stages, he appeared to appreciate the step back up to seven furlongs and remains unexposed over this trip.
Further progress is highly likely, and he remains one to keep on the right side of.
This daughter of Mastercraftsman went into my Racing TV tracker when she finished an unlucky second over a mile at Naas in March and she again caught the eye in this Group Three contest behind Aidan O’Brien’s Happen.
This was the first time
Hand On Heart had raced over seven furlongs and would have found the trip on the sharp side.
A mile seems to suit her having won two of her three starts over that trip and I would be surprised if connections did not step her back up in distance next time out.
She could head to Royal Ascot now for the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
Illumined ran a hugely promising race on her racecourse debut at
Beverley to finished second behind Mannaal, who had the benefit of two racecourse starts.
John Gosden’s daughter of Sea The Moon missed the break and ran green in behind rivals before hanging right up the home straight.
The penny eventually dropped and the three-year-old stayed on encouragingly to be beaten a length and three quarters at the line.
Illumined is a half-sister to several winners and will have learnt plenty from this run. She should be capable of getting off the mark on her next start and is an exciting prospect.
