Top tipster Dave Nevison shares his two best bets on the final day of the Perth Festival, with every race live on Racing TV.
2.05 Perth: President Scottie
There are some in-form staying chasers lined up for this prestigious Highlands National and President Scottie might well be overlooked in the market.
It is certainly true that Nicky Richards' eight-year-old has been largely disappointing over fences so far, but the signs were much better last time out and he may well be set to come good.
He was staying on very purposefully from way too far back (out of his ground and hampered to boot) in a decent Carlisle handicap. That race was over three miles and he looks as though he will be suited by a marathon trip.
He has been dropped to a mark of 108 after previously being placed in races off marks in the 120s last season. The headgear is back on and trainer Nicky Richards is always to be respected at this meeting.
3.47 Perth: The Dog Thief
The Dog Thief, who won his only point-to-point, beat two next time out winners when landing a novices' hurdle on just his second start under Rules. He had previously finished runner-up to a potential Willie Mullins superstar on his racecourse debut.
The Market Rasen win looks to be strong form and it is difficult for me to see that a mark of 116 doesn't underestimate him and gives him a real chance of making a winning handicap debut.
The trip is ideal, though he will get further, and ground conditions are similar to his previous good runs. This race may actually represent a step down in class.
