Forty Years On has Sceptre Stakes on agenda after impressive Goodwood win

Doncaster’s Sceptre Stakes is next on the agenda for Forty Years On after she continued her progression with an impressive display at Goodwood.
The Mayson filly had won four of her six previous starts for George Scott and was a facile winner on her only previous outing of this season at Newbury in June.
She was a 6-4 favourite to add to her tally in the Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Handicap and with significant rainfall having turned conditions in her favour, Forty Years On travelled powerfully under an ultra-confident Hector Crouch and she only had to be pushed out in the final furlong to score by two lengths.
“She’s deceptively fast, but I plan to keep her to seven furlongs,” said Scott.
“She’s a fresh horse for the autumn and was very impressive today.
“All being well we will go on to Doncaster for the Sceptre. I did pop her in the Prix de la Foret, which was a bit speculative, and it would be a big jump.”
Gary and Josh Moore’s Too Soon (4-1) could also be bound for Town Moor next month after proving much too good for his rivals in the Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap, pulling four-and-a-half lengths clear under 3lb claimer Warren Fentiman.
“Everybody wants rain at the moment and it’s the first time he’s had it,” said Gary Moore.
“The November Handicap could definitely be on the agenda and I think he would stay further.”
Marcus Tregoning and David Probert teamed up to land the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes with 14-1 shot Silverella.
The two-year-old was fifth on her Lingfield debut three-and-a-half weeks ago, but raised her game to open her account in fine style.
Tregoning said: “She has progressed from Lingfield and clearly handled the ground.
“It was lovely to see her travel so well and as a half-sister to Rebel Rocker, who was sixth in the Derby, she’s quite exciting.
“She’s just a baby and has some growing up to do, but that’s what I thought she might do and I’m delighted for her owner Jennifer Dorsey, who bred her.”
Probert completed a double in the Darley EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes aboard the William Haggas-trained Chimes Of Thunder.
A 9-2 shot having been placed on three of her previous four starts for the yard, she was four and three-quarter lengths too good for her rivals on the Sussex Downs, with Queen Of Scotland a clear second.
Maureen Haggas, assistant to her husband, said: “She’s done well today, maybe the ground made a difference.
“She isn’t easy and he (David Probert) made it look easy. It’s a good jockey that can make a difference.”
