1.10 Kelso: Torneo
Tipster: RaceiQ.
Best odds: 5-2.
2.55 Kelso: Quaviste
Tipster: Alex Scott.
Best odds: 13-2 (advised at 7-1)
The value may lie with the well-supported Quaviste, who remains of interest at a best-priced 7-1 for Dan Skelton. The yard have had Faivoir, L’Eau du Sud and Skycutter all place in this race recently without winning, but that frustrating run could definitely end courtesy of this unexposed six-year-old, who ran well without ever threatening at Kempton last time.
In receipt of 23lb from the current market leader, he arrives here in good form despite being a maiden in four runs over hurdles and I would be surprised if he did not prove better than a mark of 113 in time.
He has done all of his racing on flat tracks so far, but the stiffer test at Kelso ought to suit him well and the ground looks ideal.
Consider Serious Challenge and Serious Operator for trifecta purposes.
3.30 Kelso: Florida Dreams
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 3-1.
Florida Dreams is difficult to catch right and has only won one handicap, but in my view definitely has another win in him when circumstances are right.
He ran a very good fifth in the Morebattle on this card last season, but a look through his recent hurdles runs suggests that this two and a half mile trip is his best nowadays.
He has run very well over this trip a couple of times this season and, last time, the step up to three miles seemed to stretch his stamina too much. This is not the most competitive hurdle for this lofty grade and he looks a placepot banker at least.
3.45 Newbury: Vincenzo
Tipster: Andy Stephens.
Best odds: 3-1.
Andy Stephens On The Newbury Feature
4.00 Meydan: Maljoom
Tipster: Angus McNae.
Best odds: 7-2.
This horse is the class act in the Singspiel Stakes. He had no chance in the Abu Dhabi Gold Cup last time out from a wide draw and a return to the form that saw him finish third in last year's Duty Free should see him win here.
He posted some impressive finishing splits in the Duty Free in a race where he was poorly placed throughout, but was able to surge into third place courtesy of being the fastest horse through the final two furlongs. He will be tough to beat.
