1.30 Carlisle: Opportunity
Tipster: Ross Millar.
Best odds: 13-8.
Finished third off a mark of 91 on his handicap debut at Ascot, and that performance is probably worthy of an upgrade as he was ridden patiently, whereas those who finished in front of him raced closer to the pace.
William Haggas tends to train his horses to improve through the season, so with the benefit of that run, he should be capable of winning this off just a pound higher mark.
2.00 Carlisle: Grant Wood
Tipster: Martin Dixon.
Best odds: 14-1 (e/w).
Paul Midgley's seven-year-old appears, in my opinion, in the form of his life this season, and although this is a competitive sprint, at 14-1 (at the time of writing), he strikes me as a good each-way bet.
He started the year with a bang when winning impressively at Newcastle twice, and his only poor run since that brace came when drawn one, and hung out on the wing, at the same track in April.
He ran exceptionally well at Ripon last time out when disputing a fast pace most of the way, and I thought he deserved credit for hanging in there like he did, given the fractions set that day.
He's been left alone from a mark of 82, and I prefer lower draws at Carlisle on quick ground, so stall four will, hopefully, be ideal. He's my nap of the day on Saturday.
2.41 Listowel: Touch The Moon
Tipster: Johnny Ward.
Best odds: 6-4.
Potentially in a different league to these with the exception of Small Fry.
Race-fit from a run on the Flat where he did a bit too much, too soon, he should be very hard to beat.
3.10 Carlisle: Estrange
Tipster: Andy Stephens.
Estrange will not be much of a price but looks banker material in the Lester Piggott Fillies' Stakes.
She was a dazzling winner of this race first time up last year, at Haydock, being swiftest to 20mph; clocking the top speed; plus recording the fastest furlong and having the best Finishing Speed Percentage.
The gorgeous grey subsequently ran well at the highest level, including when runner-up to Kalpana in the Fillies & Mares Stakes on Champions Day. She had no chance the way that slowly run race unfolded but matched the winner in the final three furlongs, the pair both finishing off in 34.66sec.
Her connections would have had Haydock ringed in her calendar (she’s 2/2 at the track) but there’s no reason to think Carlisle will not suit her. Danny Tudhope is certainly effective at the track, with his Actual versus Expected being a healthy 1.42.

4.00 Beverley: Frankies Dream
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 9-2.
Frankies Dream had a busy, and successful, time of things in the first half of 2025, winning six handicaps.
His season finished by the summer, but he improved for his reappearance run in April to finish an excellent third in a competitive 0-90 contest at Thirsk this month.
Jennie Candlish’s gelding looks very much as though he can continue to progress again now, and he might have found an ideal race here.
Frankies Dream is at his best when able to surge through rivals weakening in front of him, and with so much pace in this race, he looks set to be well suited.
He has also run well over this course and distance before, with Paul Mulrennan riding, and will go close in this. He's my nap of the day on Saturday.
