Trainer Sharon Dunphy and owner Joseph Logan have been disqualified for two years over the Like A Diamond affair in 2013.Like A Diamond was declared to run for the first time at Ballinrobe in July that year and while he was heavily backed before the race, t he horse was not allowed to race as the Turf Club's senior security officer, Chris Gordon, reported the horse was not trained at the licensed premises of Dunphy but at another yard in the area. Evidence was heard from Dunphy, who accepted the report from Gordon, as well as Fabian Burke, the groom in charge, who had entered the stable yard on a temporary pass to work for Dunphy at the meeting. The Turf Club considered the case at a hearing last summer and did not accept the testimony of Dunphy, Logan and Burke, with all three given two-year punishments.Burke had his ban suspended for two years but he will notbe issued a licence to train horses for four years. Dunphy and Logan have already lodged appeals against the penalties, which were announced on Monday.
