Betway Heritage Handicap (3.00): MAN OF VISION at 9-1
Man Of Vision is a horse I am willing to give another chance to having tipped him ante-post for a big field handicap at York last month, only for him to be given a horror draw in stall 20 and yet still run with credit in ninth behind the unexposed winner Thunder Call.
Prior to that, Charli Appleby’s three-year-old had been progressive after being gelded (he looked a handful in his first two starts as a juvenile), getting off the mark impressively at Wolverhampton just before the turn of the year and then finishing second at Newmarket’s Guineas meeting.
Thunder Call may re-oppose here, but the winner is 6lb worse off and had a plumb draw last time. Newmarket’s six-furlong course is usually a very fair track and, granted better luck this time, I expect Man Of Vision to be bang there off an unchanged mark at more than twice the price.
Princess of Wales’s Stakes (Sponsored by the Kingdom of Bahrain) (3.35): REBEL'S ROMANCE at 5-4
Charlie Appleby has endured a frustrating campaign to this point, but he looks to have another big chance here with his globetrotting stable star Rebel’s Romance. He is the class act in the day one feature and can add to his haul of £12.1m in career prize money.
The son of Dubawi may be an eight-year-old, but there is no evidence that time is catching up with him yet, and he was a comfortable winner when last seen at Meydan.
The top-rated runner in the race, even with his 3lb penalty, he looks the likeliest winner of the mile and half contest, with the likes of Almeric and Ghostwriter seemingly had their limitations exposed at this level.
Convergent is capable of much better than he showed when trailing home in last place in the Coronation Cup last time and is feared most, but he is another that is yet to score in at the top level.

Oddschecker Heritage Handicap (1.50): PRINCLING at 9-2
I flagged Maho Bay as an
eye-catcher after he finished a luckless fifth in the Hampton Court Stakes last month and had this race pencilled in as his likely next target, and although he has solid credentials, he may struggle to concede a stone to the William Haggas-trained Princling.
The son of Kingman was also fifth at Royal Ascot, coming home two and a half lengths behind Lost Boys in the Golden Gates Handicap two days later, and his effort was also worth upgrading given that he raced wide, had plenty to do and bumped a rival in the straight.
He was doing his best work late on when fourth over a mile at Carlisle the time previously and is thoroughly unexposed over middle distances.
The form of his novice races have worked out exceptionally well and he looks much better than his current mark of 91. This regally-bred colt looks set for a big run.
Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Falmouth Stakes (3.35): FALLEN ANGEL at 14-1
Fallen Angel is the top-rated runner in the Falmouth Stakes and, though she has to give weight away to a number of talented three-year-olds, she looks a ridiculous price at 14-1.
Karl Burke’s star filly won a Group One at two, another at three, and then three more last year, and the fact she was last of four on her first start of the season doesn’t concern me given she has never won on her seasonal reappearance and invariably improves for her first run back. This return to a mile is also likely to be far more suitable than the extended trip she faced in the Middleton.
A three-length winner of the Sweet Solera here at two, she has valuable course form which others don’t, and it is worth remembering how impressive she was at the not too dissimilar Rowley Mile when winning the Sun Chariot last autumn.
She is likely to be sent forward yet again by James Doyle and could be a tough mare to pass if she brings her A-game.

Saturday
Newmarket Handicap (2.52): SHIPBOURNE at 10-1
* Editor's Note: Shipbourne has been declared for the 5.20 Newmarket on THURSDAY.
The third race on the final day of the meeting looks hugely competitive and it may be worth chancing the progressive Ralph Beckett-trained colt Shipbourne, who has the potential be thrown in off a mark of just 88 on handicap debut.
A wide margin winner on his first start, he then finished third in a novice on the all-weather over the winter which was no bad effort under a 7lb penalty, before then reappearing with a win at Doncaster last month after 187 days off the track, also under a 7lb penalty for his debut win.
Not everything went to plan in that latest race, but he still stuck to his task well against race-fit rivals and knuckled down to win by a neck over a subsequent winner. The third -placed horse was also beaten just a nose next time out.
The way he rallied at the finish suggests this step up to a mile should be well within range and it may even bring about improvement given he is by Frankel and out of the dual Guineas heroine Special Duty.
It is worth noting he is also entered at Newmarket on Thursday in an open-age handicap, but this looks his likeliest target and it is hard to see him going off at 10-1 should he take his chance.
