Top tipster Dave Nevison shares his three best bets on Tuesday, with two selections at Pontefract - live on Racing TV.
4.18 Pontefract: Clonquest
After just three promising runs, Clonquest switches to handicaps for the first time and looks well enough weighted to score and has plenty going for him here.
He hasn’t been seen since finishing third at Thirsk on his reappearance back in April, but has been gelded since that run where he went well in front for a long way.
He should be able to get to the lead from stall 3 here with no obvious pacesetter likely to challenge. A hood has been applied for the first time, which might be another positive, and he is against much more exposed rivals.
4.48 Pontefract: Betweenthesticks
Betweenthesticks might be the value of the three who reoppose after filling the first three places in a similar course and distance handicap recently.
Ruth Carr’s gelding has been very consistent all year and won twice on the all-weather in the winter before two good runner-up finishes on turf. He has fared best of the three rivals with the draw and might well make all here.
7.20 Brighton: Prefer The Sister
James Owen has only had this six-year-old mare for three runs but has already got a win out of her after an extended losing run.
She wouldn’t be the first horse to be turned around after joining this yard and the style of her five and a half length win a few days agp under Paddy Bradley ago suggests Prefer The Sister might have improved significantly.
Her win came over course and distance, and under a 5lb penalty, she looks very capable of following up.
