Dave Nevison: my three horse racing tips for Wednesday

Our resident website tipster Dave Nevison thinks one handicap contender at Kempton is soon set for Listed level among his trio of best bets for Wednesday. Enjoy all the all-weather fixture action, jumps from Market Rasen and the Flat season opener at Navan live on Racing TV.
4.45 Newcastle: Artic Row
He could be one to be with if kept on the go this spring.
Artic Row has been brought along steadily in what will surely be his only season over hurdles and he has improved with just about every run so far. Things didn’t entirely go his way last time, but he finished well after losing his place to beat the more exposed Fathers Advice by a length and, although 3lb worse off, should be able to confirm form with that rival.
Artic Row is on his way now that he has got his head in front and I expect he will be tried over fences sooner rather than later as he very much looks like a chaser.
7.30 Kempton: Mount Athos
This lightly-raced type is one to look forward to in 2023 and hopefully we will see more of him than the four runs he managed last year.
I have a feeling Mount Athos won’t last too long in handicaps as he definitely showed form bordering on Listed level when beating the useful Top Secret (went on to win his next two) by an effortless five lengths over course and distance here on his most recent start back in October. He has a decent draw in stall 4 and there doesn’t look to be many among his rivals here who will take him on for the lead.
Mount Athos has an entry in the Listed Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster this weekend and I imagine he will be competing in that bracket very soon.
8.30 Kempton: Beauen Arrows
Beauen Arrows has run up to his best on his latest two runs and things look good here.
This consistent type does most of his racing here and mostly runs with credit, so it is perhaps surprising that he is still a maiden but he deserves a break.
With Sir Rodneyredblood certain to lead from stall 1 and a few slow-starters drawn just outside him, Beauen Arrows should be able to sit on the quarters of John Jenkins’ solid campaigner and hopefully push ahead close home.
