Gillian Boanas enjoyed her first success as a trainer when Redkalani lifted the honours in the Bedale Hunt Masters Handicap Hurdle at Catterick.Boanas took over the reins at Groundhill Farm stables just a few weeks ago from Keith Reveley, for whom she had been the long-standing head lass. She got off the mark with her ninth runner as Redkalani (10-1) landed a game success in the hands of 7lb-claiming amateur Emma Todd.Leading at the final flight, Redkalani showed he had stamina in abundance in battling all the way to the line to defeat Bankhall by 10 lengths.Boanas told Racing UK: "We've been knocking on the door and it's nice to get that winner in now."I knew he was in good form and I thought he would run a good race. I put the blinkers back on him. He hadn't had them on for a while and Emma had ridden him once before and got a good tune out of him, so I thought we'd try again."He's quite lazy so I told Emma to keep at him when he comes off the bridle. He stays all day."I've got 18 horses in now and it's building up nicely."However, Todd was hit with a two-day ban for using her whip above the permitted level .Nomoreblackjack (4-9 favourite) won as an odds-on shot should as he ran his rivals ragged in the Hunt Staff Benefit Society Handicap Chase.Danny Cook took no prisoners as he sent Sue Smith's six-year-old to the front from the start, and Nomoreblackjack never looked like being caught as he comfortably defied a 7lb penalty for a course and distance success eight days earlier.Leanna Ban did best of the rest, 10 lengths adrift of the winner.Sky Full Of Stars followed up last week's Ayr success with a hard-fought win in the Hunt Staff Charities Novices' Handicap Chase.James Ewart's seven-year-old had trotted up last time but had to work much harder to take this prize. The 7-4 favourite answered every call from Brian Hughes as he got the better of Minella Suite on the dash to the line to score by six lengths.Becky The Thatcher (6-1) came from off the pace to grab victory in the Coniston Hotel Mares' Novices' Hurdle.Market rivals Golden Vision and All My Love looked to have the race between themselves, but they appeared to cut each other's throats and Finian O'Toole's perseverance paid off as Micky Hammond's four-year-old stayed on well to snatch the spoils by two and three-quarter lengths. All My Love was second.Barry Leavy's Akula (3-1 joint-favourite) made all to win the Lycetts Selling Handicap Hurdle under 7lb claimer Lorcan Murtagh, while prolific point-to-point winner Knocklong (6-4 favourite), owned and trained by Justin Landy, opened his account under Rules in the John Wade Skip Hire Novices' Hunters' Chase.Shearling (4-6 favourite) made it three wins and a second from four bumpers when running out an emphatic winner of the Akebar Park Leisure Ltd Mares' Standard National Hunt Flat Race for trainer Brian Ellison and conditional rider Kaine Wood.
