Karl Burke reports that his 1000 Guineas runner-up
Evolutionist has come out of the race well and connections are now eying a trip to Chantilly next month for the French Oaks.
Speaking on the
Nick Luck Daily Podcast on Tuesday, Burke – who also ran Moyglare third
Venetian Sun – revealed that plans will now be split into two different directions for the three-year-old fillies.
Although sent off the bigger price of the yard’s pair in the race, Evolutionist did the best of those who raced on the far side having always been up with the pace under Shane Foley.
The Prix De Diane at Chantilly, also known as the French Oaks, will be her next target.
“We always thought Evolutionist would be stepping up in trip and see no reason to change that,” Burke said. “She'll hopefully go for the Prix de Diane in June in France, the French Oaks.
“She ran a great race, obviously, and we were very, very happy with that.
“Both have come out of the race fine, no issues.”

While Evolutionist will be going up in distance for a 10-furlong contest that Burke won with Laurens in 2018, the immediate future of Venetian Sun - who finished 11th - lies over shorter trips.
“Venetian Sun will be going in the opposite direction,” Burke explained. “She'll be going back to sprinting.
“She definitely didn't stay the mile. I've watched the race a few times now. I thought she was getting into the race two out, getting onto the tail of Evolutionist but she just petered out.
“Maybe it was the quicker ground as well, but I think she's all speed. She winged out the gates. If you watch, she probably took at least half a length or a length on most of the field out of the gates.
“And then from there, Cliff [Lee, Venetian Sun’s jockey] was always trying to get her back into her rhythm in behind horses and I think sprinting's her game.”
