Five to follow at The Curragh on Sunday

Five to follow on Racing TV on Sunday

Dave Nevison, Angus McNae, Martin Dixon, Johnny Ward, and RaceiQ team up to give their best bets on Sunday.

1.10 Curragh: Alpha

Tipster: Johnny Ward
Holds Alpine Wedding and Ibelieveicanfly on Leopardstown running and hard to see a newcomer winning this.
By Sea The Stars out of Alpha Centauri, it was no surprise he was hammered in the betting on debut despite Ryan Moore riding Ibelieveicanfly.

3.20 Curragh: Isaac Newton

Tipster: Angus McNae
Issac Newton got his act together when winning a Listed race at Navan last time out and can take another step forward today.
He overcame plenty of trouble in running that day utilising a sharp turn of foot and having just had seven career starts he is open to plenty of improvement.
He was Group One-placed as a two-year-old and I expect him to be good enough to land this strong Group Three contest.

3.37 Cartmel: Winds Of Winter

Tipster: Dave Nevison
George Bewley has his small string in good form and will be hoping this mare can end a run of frustrating seconds during June. Winds of Winter was in good form last season winning over course and distance in July and certainly looks to have been running herself into form in her three starts this season.
It was a strongly run race the last time she won here, suiting her hold-up style perfectly, and she looks set to have that sort of set up once more under similar conditions. Plenty of in form rivals line up against her so she could well go off at an each-way price.

4.35 Curragh: Raaheeb

Tipster: Martin Dixon
Raaheeb is attempting to become the first horse since Zagreb in 1996 to win the Irish Derby with just two runs behind him.
He has a top-class pedigree and the patience that we associate with Owen Burrows suggests that he could be out of the top drawer.
The fact that he was sharp enough and good enough to win on debut, and then make such an impression on his comeback, means he could be a big, big player.
He's the one for me who just might be out of the top drawer, and really burst onto the scene. He could be something very different, and the door is still open for him to be the best of the three-year-old colts that we’ve seen so far.

5.45 Curragh: Truth Be Told

Tipster: Race iQ (Andy Stephens)
Truth Be Told swept home from last to first in a steadily run race at Leopardstown last time and can follow up. The Too Darn Hot gelding was still last of the 12 runners half a mile from home but a 12.58sec seventh furlong (second best) and 12.27sec (also second best) eighth furlong enabled him to pass three rivals.
There was still plenty to do but his 11.83sec penultimate furlong – he was the only runner to dip under 12sec for a furlong at any stage - and 12.37sec final furlong (easily quickest) saw him zoom to the head of affairs.
He was a full 1sec quicker than anything else over the final three furlongs, and that can be upgraded, too, as this was not a fast-run race which fell in his lap. On the contrary, the Time Index was 4.8, when the meeting average was 5.2, and 1.03sec slower than Par.
Truth Be Told is now two from two when racing beyond a mile and hold-up tactics have unlocked hidden potential. He took this off a rating of 80 and races off 87 here, but that need not stop him going in again. His winning time was less than 1sec slower than the Derby Trial earlier in the afternoon.
